Dear Parents, Teachers, Staff, and Families,
It's that time of year again, and on behalf of the West Valley Parent Teacher Organization (WVPTO), I'd like to welcome you all to the 2016-17 school year. To our returning families, teachers, and staff, welcome back! And to our new families, teachers, and staff, we're excited to have you join the West Valley Community.
The mission of our PTO is to enrich our children's education, and we do so in a variety of ways ranging from music and art teachers, to the Running Club and Project Cornerstone.
It takes a village to raise a child, and as such, our school will be as strong as our community. We intend to make it possible for all of you to be able to find a convenient way to contribute with one or more of time, knowledge, and resources. There is no contribution that is too small when it comes to enhancing the experience our children have at West Valley.
Our next PTO meeting will be held immediately after Back to School night next week. We'd love to see all of you there, especially all our new community members. We’re going to keep the meeting on point, focusing on introducing the PTO Board, and sharing more about how you can enjoy and make an impact with our various events and committees over the year.
Event: West Valley PTO Meeting
Date: Wednesday 24 August
Location: West Valley Elementary GLC (the big hall near the playground)
Free Food (snacks): YES!
If you’re receiving this, you’ve already signed up on Konstella. Please take a minute to ensure that you’ve linked to your child and their classroom as well. There’s also an app available for those who want it on their phones. We’ll be using Konstella to manage classroom events, volunteer opportunities, and PTO communications - and it’s also great for connecting with other parents in your child’s class. If you know of parents who are not on Konstella, please do encourage them to join.
If you have any questions, do reach out to me (email below), or of course any of our board members. You can find more about the new board (photos and bios coming soon) on our website at http://www.wvpto.org/pto-board--committees.html
We enjoyed meeting several of you at the coffee and doughnut get together on the first day of school, and look forward to getting to know all of you at the upcoming PTO meeting and in the days beyond. I know I speak for the whole board when I say that I'm excited to help us all make this the best year ever at West Valley. I personally have a 5th grader, and a 1st grader, so speaking as a parent, not only do I want this year to be fantastic, but I want to see the foundations laid down for future years as well.
Rohan Chandran, WVPTO President 2016-17
