Assist your classroom teacher in using the garden as a place to learn. Garden-based learning provides hands-on experiences in several subjects. Science comes first to mind but you can think of math (counting, comparing, plotting charts), social studies (Native American crops, crops evolution through history) and esthetics (garden bed planning, beautifying the school grounds). Discuss with your teacher what they would like to grow or come up with your own ideas. The document in the GardenDocs folder below contains links for various garden projects that can serve as an inspiration.
