🌷 Spring Fling: The Garden Is Almost in Full Bloom 🌷
Wed, Feb 25 9:02pm

It’s Thursday, which means we are officially in the wait-it's-almost-March phase of Spring Fling. In case you've been under a rock (or just avoiding your inbox), on March 7 (6–10pm at Stone Way Auto) we’ll gather—grown-ups only—to raise critical funds for Whittier, and the momentum is building like daffodils and tree blossoms that are shooting up all around us right now.

(Also, this week's Takehome Tuesday featured an image of one of our, ahem, more unhinged merch items. So sorry about that. We created the graphic for something else and reused it without thinking. Apologies if this led to a colorful discussion around language at home!)

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • 2 Full Bars with custom cocktails/mocktails, wine, and beer
  • 3 Heavy App stations: Gyro bar, Pacific Rim station, Mediterranean Antipasto spread
  • Music by 5th Grade Whittier parent DJs
  • 3 Floors of fun and community including an arcade room, photo booth, lounge areas, and more
  • Silent auction featuring:
    • One-of-a-kind Whittier merch and generous business and individual donations (a cruise? vacation in San Diego? planned birthday parties? Seahawks tickets? signed Storm merch? what?)
    • Incredible hosted parties and staff experiences
    • Class buckets curated by your peers
    • Art made by your adorable kids
  • Lots of opportunities to build and celebrate community, including a dessert & snack dash with your class families, surprise photo wall, golden ticket raffle, and more
  • If you haven't had the chance to see our unhinged dress code guide on the fences around school, you can check it out online here >>

TICKET UPDATE

  • First, the gratitude - we successfully covered our 100% of our community and staff ticket goal. Thank you for your generosity and support. (If you’re a community member who would like to use one of those sponsored tickets, please reach out to the front office team for details.
  • Now, the practical gardening notes: we're still hoping to sell at least 32 more tickets (to break even on venue + catering), and 17 more advance drink tickets (to cover beverage and food supply expenses). We’d prefer to be flourishing, not merely compost-neutral. If you’ve been meaning to purchase tickets, now is an excellent time to let that seed sprout. And while you’re at it, grab discounted drink tickets to save $2 per drink and help us cover costs before the first cork is popped.

🌼 The Auction Garden Is Open for Browsing

The catalog is live and being updated regularly. You can now explore hosted parties and staff experiences (clever, delightful, and usually competitive), featured auction packages (ranging from charming to “who approved this?”), and class buckets (curated goods from your peers that remind you you're surrounded by veryclever people).

Be sure to mark your calendar for the Class Art Preview TOMORROW (Friday, February 27th) after school on the blacktop. The student creations alone are worth a stroll and it's the best way to know your must-bid items.

Reminder: you can bid even if you cannot attend in person on March 7. Just visit this page to create an account to bid: https://wildcats.schoolauction.net/springfling2026/signup. Every bid supports our $90,000 goal to fund essential staff and services—investments like daily specialists that directly impact our students.

📧 Already Have a Ticket?

Watch for an email on this weekend with helpful reminders:

  • Save a credit card in advance (so you are not standing in line to check out at the end of the night)

  • Opt into text notifications for bidding updates and outbid alerts

    • You can easily opt in now by texting "BIDNOW" to 844-218-2243
    • Worried about getting a flood of promotional texts? You won't because they're capped and, honestly, a pain to send. So besides outbid notices, you'll be able to count the texts on one-and-a-half hands
  • Generally arrive feeling prepared and slightly smug

🌿 Volunteer Spots Still Need Filling

We have 12 volunteer shifts left to cover. The good news: they are short, centrally located (or even timed for the day after the event) and entirely compatible with conversation, appetizers, and light bragging about your civic engagement. Sign up, meet someone new (or drag a friend along), and enjoy the satisfaction of tending the garden while it blooms.

🌱 Why This Matters

Spring Fling is not just a pleasant evening out. It’s one of the primary ways we ensure Whittier can continue investing in the staff and programs that set our school apart, like daily specialists, literacy

So please:

  1. Purchase tickets if you haven't yet (why? why?!) and plan your outfit

  2. Add drink tickets

  3. Preview the catalog

  4. Sign up for a volunteer shift

  5. Check your schoolauction.net account to make sure your credit card is updated and text notifications are turned on
  6. Check out the Spring Fling website for more info on the schedule of events, event parking and more
  7. Rally your class to get everyone in on the fun (5th graders are BLOWING the other grades out of the water - K-4 let's show them up!)

Let’s make this event bloom beautifully—and abundantly. 🌸
