Dear Whittier Community,
Thank you for your incredible generosity in contributions to our Annual Give campaign. This fundraiser is our largest of the year and especially important due to funds we bring in from employer matching!
As a PTA we started this school year with discussions about management of our current funds including proposals to spend a portion of our savings and reducing fundraising goals for our Spring Fling and Move-a-thon.
So why are we still fundraising for Annual Give if we have some extra money to spend?
We are in a fortunate financial situation because of YOUR generosity and the hard work of our PTA board and volunteers. Last year we surpassed fundraising goals, and we are entering this year with less spending as we transition from a full-time enrichment/STEAM lab coordinator to math tutors to supplement our students' learning. Next year could bring increased spending on tutors or another program to meet the learning needs of our scholars.
All this to say, we are doing our best to make sure that PTA funds are serving current community needs while also maintaining a culture of giving to make sure we can continue to meet our community's needs this year and next. Thank you for your part in helping us with this work!
Are any of our PTA funds leaving Whittier?
After a productive PTA board meeting we as a unified board have an updated budget proposal with no funds allocated outside Whittier at this time. We look forward to discussing this current version of the budget at a community budget meeting on Wednesday 10/07 from 7-8:30 in the Whittier Library. We are excited for ongoing conversations this year about future opportunities for our school to participate in PTA equity and community giving.
This year as always, our budgets are voted upon by our PTA members guided by input from our community.
