Thank you to everyone who participated in the Goodbye Gift for Ms. Newcomb. Our community was able to raise enough money to donate 115 books to celebrate and honor her. Over the summer, she'll provide us a list of her book selects, which we'll mark with these special bookplates and, this Fall in collaboration with our new librarian, we'll place them on a bookcase featuring this sign. This will create a special space for our students to remember Ms. Newcomb and the love of reading she spread.



To help Ms. Newcomb remember us in California, we also gave her these two framed pieces of art to bring with her. The print below is from a local artist and then we painted a custom watercolor of Ms. Newcomb's favorite Whittier views: her checkout desk, her library window, and her walk into Whittier (sorry for the photo glare!). 



She was incredibly touched by our gift and with how many of you participated. Thank you so much--we are so grateful to our amazing Whittier community! Paws up, Wildcats!
