Hello Wicklund Families:
WSF, and the other foundations/PTAs of LUSD, will be hosting our 2nd America's Battle of the Books on Saturday, May 5th. Information and registration information can be found here Battle of the Books Website.
What is Battle of the Books?
This is a fresh and fun way to engage scholars in reading award-winning books and then have a little friendly competition. Scholars simply read through the book list, gather friends for a team, and then answer questions about their books in a Family Feud style competition.
Teams consist of four students in the same grade group -- 2nd graders, 3rd and 4th graders combine as a team, 5th and 6th graders team-up, and 7th and 8th graders can join forces. We are hoping to have teams from all schools in our district.
There are 20 books on each grade-level list (3rd & 4th, 5th & 6th, and 7th & 8th) and 12 books for our 2nd graders. Your scholar doesn’t need to read all of the books but the more they read, the better! And, all of the books have Accelerated Reader quizzes so they can easily meet their AR goals for the 2017-2018 school year.
Book lists, reading charts, practice questions and registration information can be found here Battle of the Books Website. So gather your friends, form a team and register today.
