Beye School PTO Newsletter
MAY 2026 - Final Edition of this school year!
Dear Beye families,
It's the start of a very busy month, but we've made it! The school year is coming to a close and we're proud and appreciative of all of the moments this year has provided.
We are so grateful this year for the way the Beye community has come together, both for celebrations and fun, like the Lunar New Year and Black History Month events, the Fun Fair and Pancake Breakfast, and to support one other, through safety patrols, food aid, and the Snowflakes of Joy initiative. The families of Beye have truly shown their dedication to this community this year, and we are proud to be part of that.
And, of course, we're also starting to look ahead to next year. If you'd like to be involved in that conversation, please consider joining the PTO board! I'm stepping down after three years as president and six years on the board, and I can tell you that it's been an amazing experience to work with so many people who are committed to making Beye school the best it can be. Board elections will take place at the End of the Year Picnic on June 2nd, so if you'd like to run, or find out more, please email board@beyeschoolpto.org by May 26th. And ahead of the election, please take a moment to vote on an amendment to the PTO Bylaws allowing for co-presidents. The president role is a lot of work for one person, and we'd like to return to having two co-presidents. This online vote closes Friday, May 8th.
Have a wonderful summer!
- Molly Greenwood-Whalen, PTO President and the 2025-2026 PTO Exec Board

Interested students can sign up using the form below and will need to attend at least one rehearsal the week prior.
We can’t wait to see what takes the stage this year. ![]()
WE WANT YOU!
The Beye Programs Committee is looking for volunteers to help lead or support school community events—and we’d love to have you involved.
Whether you’re interested in supporting longer-standing events like Día de los Muertos, Black History Month, or Lunar New Year, or you’ve been thinking, “You know what would be really cool…?”—we are all ears.
Families have expressed interest in a range of observances, including Native American Heritage Month, Diwali, Eid, Pride Month, Disability Pride Month, Jewish celebrations like Hanukkah, and more. This is an open invitation to share what feels meaningful to you and help reflect the many experiences, identities and celebrations in our community.
If you’re even a little curious, reach out at Programs@beyeschoolpto.org. There are lots of ways to be involved--big and small-- and we’re happy to support you along the way.

A HEARTFELT FAREWELL
My youngest is a fifth grader and this is my last Beye hoo-rah. After seven incredible years with the Beye School PTO, it’s time for me to say goodbye… though thankfully, with a full heart and countless memories.
From Room Leader to Room Leader Coordinator to Programs co-chair with the wonderful Anna Harlan to Vice President working with our amazing President, Molly Greenwood-Whalen, to somehow becoming the communications person (despite having zero background and plenty of learning curves) to implementing a new payment/fundraising system, I’ve been honored to step in wherever there was a gap to fill. This community has taught me so much, given me lasting friendships, and brought more laughter, growth, and connection than I ever could have imagined. I cannot say enough nice things about what this experience has gifted me. I highly recommend you consider getting involved with this community’s PTO. You will not be disappointed with that decision.
Beye is truly a special place, and while I’ll deeply miss being part of this amazing community in this role, I sincerely hope to stay in touch. Thank you for seven unforgettable years, for your support, and for making this journey so meaningful. - Michele Jurewicz, the little messenger sending notes to your inbox all these years
