Garden Team Lead Description
The Garden Team Lead is an important point person who connects all aspects of the garden, from Settle Science to projects and volunteers. The Garden Team Lead does not need to have extensive gardening/plant knowledge, but does need a willingness to learn and adjust. The garden is a beautiful experiment, especially in a school setting and even when we plan and plan, things can go awry. A good attitude and adventurous spirit can go a long way.
Garden Team Lead Responsibilities
- Manage the budget for the garden.
- Connect monthly with Settle Science to find out what is happening in the garden with students, what regular maintenance needs to be done, and what special projects are top of mind. This is flexible and can be done over email, in person, over the phone, or on Zoom.
- Work with Settle Science to set up, organize, and run Quarterly Garden Work Days. If needed, Garden Work Days can coincide with Campus Beautification to help bring the community members in.
- Recruit volunteers to support the garden in various ways. Some volunteer roles may include:
-
-
Compost Lead
-
Thursday Morning Bimonthly Care Team (stop by the garden to care for the garden bed 2x a month on Thursday mornings from 9am-10am)
-
Master Gardener as reference
-
Lower Grade Teacher Lead (TK-2)
-
Upper Grade Teacher Lead (3-5)
-
