2 open PTA Board positions
Mon, Apr 6 12:01pm

Hi everyone a little while ago I sent out the message below, but I also wanted to inform you that you can be a guardian and/or grandparent at the school as well.

Some may not know this and I wanted to reach out once more.

Thank you and please see below!

Hello WGE families …

I hope you are all managing the adjustment to homeschool life well. My name is Jacqueline, some have seen me around campus. I am the music teacher as well as volunteer coordinator for the PTA Board.

Though our school is closed, the PTA is continuing its regular work, including looking for new volunteers. We are currently attempting to fill two key positions on next year’s board — a dedicated and fun group of your fellow parents who work hard to ensure our staff, students and families have what they need to be successful. The board sets the direction for the PTA, makes key decisions along the way, and helps facilitate the work of our fundraising and event leads. Joining the board is a great way to make a real difference in the life of our school.

Do either of the following positions interest you? They both can be performed primarily in the evening and on weekends, so those with full-time work outside the home can fit them into their schedules.

Financial secretary: This person is responsible for depositing all funds received into the PTA bank account and tracking these deposits in Quickbooks. The full job description can be found here. While this role does involve the handling of money, it does not require any specific financial expertise. Lots of training will be provided!

Treasurer: The primary responsibilities of the Treasurer are to keep accurate financial records of all PTA income and payments using QuickBooks; manage all payments in accordance with our bylaws and budget; and keep the membership updated monthly on the financial position of the organization. A full job description can be found here. Lots of training will be provided, and the current treasurer will remain on the board in an emeritus role to assist with the transition. This role has been successfully performed in the past by volunteers with little financial expertise, but some background in finance generally is helpful.

For both roles, regular attendance at regular PTA board and membership meetings is expected.

If you’re interested or know someone who is, please let me know, and I will connect you with the board member currently holding the position to learn more.

Jacqueline
