Find a fun role, big or small, with the PTA next year!

Hello, friends! At tonight's PTA meeting, the membership voted to elect a new board for 2019-20. A giant thank you to the dedicated parents who've agreed to serve and especially to our wonderful president-elect, Amy Kaiser.

Lots of parents have stepped up to be volunteer leads for next year, but we do still have some openings to fill. Please take a look at the list below and see if something sounds fun to you. Let me know if you have questions or are interested.

Harvest Festival organizer: With other volunteers, plan and organize the annual Harvest Festival event this fall, on Friday, Oct. 25. You'll have info from previous events to work from.

Tree Lighting organizer: With other volunteers, plan and organize the annual Tree Lighting event, on Thursday, Dec. 5. You'll have details of previous events to work from.

Kinder park playdates organizer: Plan and organize three playdates at a park over the summer to welcome incoming kinder and TK families. (Last year these were on Aug. 4, 8, and 11, but the dates/times are up to the organizer.) This is a good role for a family with a child at our school as well as an incoming kinder or TK student.

Restaurant Nights lead: Work with area restaurants throughout the year to organize and publicize restaurant nights where we promote the business to our families, and they donate a portion of their proceeds to the PTA.

5K sponsorship lead (shadow): One of our sponsorship leads for the Willow Glen 5K will be graduating in 2020, so we are looking for someone who can shadow her this coming year and then take over. This is a very well-organized team, and you will have a list of sponsors to work with.

Los Dichos coordinator(s): We are looking for new leads for the Los Dichos program. The leads organize parent volunteers to read bilingual books in TWBI classrooms and lead activities/discussions about topics including tolerance, family pride and conflict resolution. This program is part of Project Cornerstone.

Games Closet organizer: We need a parent or grandparent who can be on campus several days a week at lunchtime and staff the Games Closet, where students can check out games to play. A generous parent whose child graduated last year is still running this program, and we'd like to let him retire!

Lost and Found organizers: We are looking for 2-3 more people who can spend a few minutes each week helping keep the Lost and Found organized. These volunteers will also periodically donate clothing that's been left for long periods of time.

Book Fair volunteer coordinator (shadow): This person would shadow the Book Fair volunteer coordinator and take over for her in 2020-21. The position involves a concentrated amount of work right around the Book Fair, which takes place the week after Thanksgiving before and after school.

Thanks so much for considering these roles!

Warm regards,
