The PTA is looking for three lead volunteers to plan this year’s school auction — a fun event where parents can get to know each other and bid on great auction items. In a previous year, we raised about $60,000 to help pay for PTA enrichment and family programs! This year’s event is scheduled for March 26, 2022.
There are 3 positions to make the event manageable and fun:
Party planning lead. This person plans the event by booking a venue; organizing food, vendors, and entertainment; publicizing the event; and managing ticket sales. The lead may want to recruit a few volunteers to help.
Auction item solicitation lead. This person is responsible for soliciting and collecting donations from individuals and businesses, ranging from restaurant gift cards to a bathroom renovation. The lead may want to recruit a few volunteers to help.
Organize auction items and manage auction software. This person manages the auction software system, (Silent Auction Pro was used previously but this Lead can use anything they’re comfortable with), and works with the solicitation lead to organize auction donations, package them into bundles for bidding; enter them into the software; and manage the billing process.
There is a toolkit to work from, and last year’s lead will provide some guidance. Most of this work can be done at night and on weekends.
