School Site Council: The School Site Council is a decision making group comprised of parents, community members, and school staff members in schools receiving certain categories of state and federal money. This council is a partnership of school staff and parents which focuses on students’ needs. It brings together two groups most interested in the child’s education to work together in a shared responsibility to ensure a quality education for all students within the school. Members are elected for a 2 year term through a ballot process. The responsibilities are as follows: Develop, evaluate, and refine the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), provide input on the school budget, and monitor and evaluate the success of the school’s educational program.
SELAC: The School English Learner Advisory Committee (SELAC) is composed of parents and educators interested in improving the education of English Learner (EL) students in the district. The District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC) members are representatives from each School’s English Learner Advisory Committee (SELAC). The purpose of the SELAC Committee is to advise school administrators and staff in the development of the school plan for English Learners. It also assists in the school needs assessment, language census, program development, and budget development.
