Hello WGE Tiger families,
Just a few reminders for the upcoming week. Please see below for a message from our Willow Glen Community Extended Day Enrichment Program.
Hello WGCEDEP Community!
We are so excited to announce a very soft but grand reopening this summer June 7 – July 30! Ten student ambassadors will be enrolled through an interview process to work with Miss Sophia and myself to guide us in rebuilding a quality program for our Willow Glen community. As the leaders of this private non-profit enrichment program we want to experience first-hand the social and emotional needs of children after a very long and trying year. We see this as the best way to support our students and teachers returning in the Fall of the 2021 school year. Look out for our application processes to be posted to Willow Glen Elementary School’s Konstella platform in April 2021.
We appreciate your continued support as we work toward reintroducing children to an unfamiliar learning environment.
Our PTA meeting is March 9th at 7pm. Our school psychologist, Jessica Valdemar, will join us to talk about how we can help our children's mental health during this time.
Be sure to get your tickets to the Escape Room Adventure happening on March 20th at 7:30 p.m.! Tickets to this virtual escape room are $20 and can be found here. If you are able to give more to cover the ticket cost for another person, please do. If you are unable to pay the $20, there is an option for a ticket through our Willow Glen Cares program. We would love to see all of our parents, caregivers, teachers and staff at this virtual, new, fun event!
Interested in getting more involved in the San Jose Unified education community? The San Jose Unified Council of PTAs (the group that brings together all of the PTAs in our district) is looking for board members - President, Treasurer and Secretary. This is an excellent opportunity to get started on a nonprofit board. If you are interested, contact Amy Kaiser by March 8th.
Our 3rd -5th Grade students will be taking the State assessments this year. 3rd and 4th Grade testing dates are scheduled for March 30th- April 9th. Our 5th Graders are scheduled to take their state assessments April 27th- May 14th . The test has been shortened by the state and our students will not test every single day. For more information please log on to the Parent/Guardian Resources CAASPP page at https://www.caaspp.org/ta-resources/parent-resources.html If your child does not have a school device, you will be receiving instructions as to how to download the secure browser on the home device. Teachers will also begin practice tests with the students soon.
Please make an appointment to come to campus by directly emailing Ms. Knapp. This includes technology and picking up materials. Also, before you come onto campus, please be sure to fill out the symptom check below. You will choose appointment.
