Welcome (or welcome back) to Willow Glen Elementary! Whether you're a returning family who already knows where everything is, or you're new and still trying to figure out the drop-off line - we are so glad you're here!

I'm Gini Bossenbroek, this year's WGE PTA President, and I want to officially kick off the 2026-2027 school year by inviting you to come say hello.

First things first: Join us at our Ice Cream Social!

The night before school starts, we're gathering all WGE families together for our Ice Cream Social. Come meet your neighbors, connect with other families, find your child's classroom, and learn about everything we have going on this year. It's a great way to start the year feeling connected - and there's
ice cream, which makes everything better.

Save the Date - August 5th, 4-6 pm in the Quad (blacktop near the school cafeteria)

New or TK/K families - we especially want to see you!

We have New Family events planned throughout August, and we'd love for you to be there! Join us on 8/2 2pm for a Popsicle Party and 8/9 for our Pizza Party 11:30am in Tiger Park.

And don't miss the New Parent Coffee Chat on August 7th, right after drop-off. It's a relaxed chance to learn more about the school, meet the PTA, and connect with some of our staff. A great first step.

Now, what is the PTA and why does it matter?
The PTA funds the programs that make our school genuinely great - art and field strips, social-emotional learning, hands-on environmental science, cultural events and assemblies, and classroom stipends for teachers. We also advocate for our students and build the kind of community that makes WGE feel like home.

Do you have to volunteer or go to meetings? Nope. Joining the PTA doesn't mean you have to show up to everything or take on a big role. Your
membership alone makes a difference. That said, schools don't run on their own, and every small action.

Saludos familias de Willow Glen!

Bienvenidos (o bienvenidos nuevamente) a la Primaria Willow Glen (WGE)! Ya sea que son una familia que ya sabe dónde está todo o aún están tratando de descifrar cómo funciona la fila para dejar a sus hijos - ¡estamos muy contentos de que estén aquí!

Soy Gini Bossenbroek, la presidenta de la Asociación de Padres y Maestros o PTA de WGE de este ciclo escolar y quiere iniciar el ciclo escolar
2026-2027 oficialmente, invitándolos a que pasen a saludar.

Primero lo primero: Acompáñenos en el convivio social con helado!

La noche antes de que inicien las clases, nos reuniremos todas las familias de WGE en un convivio con helado. Vengan a conocer a sus vecinos, conecten con otras familias, busquen dónde está el salón de sus hijos y entérense de  todo lo que tenemos planeado para este ciclo escolar. Esta es una gran forma de iniciar el ciclo escolar sintiéndose conectados – y por si fuera poco, habrá helado.

Anoten la fecha – 5 de agosto, 4-6 pm en el patio central (asfalto cerca de la cafetería escolar)

Familias nuevas o de Kínder de transición (TK) o Kínder - en especial los queremos ver a ustedes!

Tenemos eventos familiares nuevos planeados todo agosto y nos encantaría que nos acompañaran!

Vengan el 8/2 2pm para una fiesta con paletas de hielo y el 8/9 será nuestra fiesta con pizza a las 11:30am en el Parque Tiger. No olviden seguirnos en las redes sociales bajo @wgetigers para mantenerse informados.

No se pierdan el nuevo café y plática con la directora el 7 de agosto, justo después de dejar a sus hijos.

Es una oportunidad agradable para recibir más información sobre la escuela, conocer a la PTA y conectar con algunos integrantes del personal. Es un gran primer paso.

Qué es la PTA y por qué es importante?

La PTA financia los programas que hacen que nuestra escuela sea genuinamente maravillosa – arte y excursiones, aprendizaje socioemocional, prácticas de ciencias del medio ambiente, asambleas y eventos culturales y estipendios para los maestros. Además, abogamos por nuestros estudiantes y edificamos una comunidad que logra que WGE se sienta como casa.

Es necesario ser voluntario o asistir a las reuniones?

No. Formar parte de la PTA no significa que se tienen que presentar a todos los eventos o tener una función principal. Solo su membrecía ya hace una gran diferencia. Sin embargo, las escuelas no funcionan por sí mismas y cada acción por muy pequeña que sea, suma para lograr algo verdadero. ¡Así
que cerciórense de agregar los eventos de la PTA a su calendario ahora mismo!
