Art Adventure time is here and Woodcrest kids LOVE it!
Art Adventure is a program offered through the Minneapolis Institute of Arts (MIA). This program brings reproductions of works of art from the museum into the classroom! Volunteers are needed to attend picture training on a set of six pieces of art at MIA and then visit classrooms to share the works of art with our students. No art experience needed, you just need to enjoy spending time in the classroom and leading a fun active discussion with the students!
The Art set theme we have chosen this year is: Family, Friends and Community because it fits so well with the Units of Inquiry students are already learning about!
One training session is mandatory at MIA to learn about the art. Dates and times are: 1. Oct 23rd from 10:30AM - 12:30PM 2. November 8th from 5:30PM - 7:30PM 3. November 28th from 10:30AM - 12:30PM The past two years, we have had 100% participation from all teachers! We are looking forward to that this year as well! These presentations to students in classroom will take place during the month of December and each volunteer will be responsible to share 10 presentations depending on the number of volunteers and teacher participation.
We have limited volunteer spaces, so let me know asap if you are interested in joining! This year we are hoping to host a weekend family day at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts so that students and families can view the real works they have learned about! I can't wait to hear from you! Please message me so that I can send you the training sign up link through eventbrite! firstname.lastname@example.org Paz, JG
