First Week of School - Arrival and Dismissal help
Tue, Sep 4 8:40am - Wed, Sep 5
Woodcrest Spanish Immersion

The PTO helps school teachers and staff ensure smooth student arrival and departures on the first 2 days of school.  You will help lead the arriving kids to their appropriate classrooms in the morning and/or help take them from their classrooms to the bus at the end of the day.  More detailed instructions are below.  If you have any questions, please ask Yesica in the office or email Kelly, PTO volunteer coordinator, at audkel@gmail.com.

ARRIVAL VOLUNTEERS:

Please plan to arrive promptly by 8:40 and bring your Identification!  The SLP school district has implemented a new visitor management system called Raptor at each school.  Each volunteer will need to have their ID scanned prior to entering the school.  Also, please bring an umbrella!  It looks like we will probably need them.  Below is the plan for bringing the kindergarteners into the school.

* Volunteers should plan to be at their posts by 8:40 am.  Bring your ID to check in.
* Volunteers pick up “Follow the Leader” flowers at Yesica’s desk.
* Kindergarten teachers will stay in classrooms to meet students as they arrive.
* Volunteers and staff will bring students to kindergarten classrooms as they arrive from buses and parent pick-up.
* Volunteers with flowers will stand near buses, but not at bus doors, and near the parent drop-off area so that we can keep kids moving away from the drop off area as quickly as possible.
* Flower people should stay put, holding their flower high in the air so they are easy for our kindergartners to find.
* People who are meeting students as they get off buses and are dropped off at parent drop-off will direct all kindergartners to meet any staff/volunteer with a flower (4 flower people at buses and 3 at Parent Drop-Off)
* Once the staff member/volunteer with the flower has at least 5 students they bring them to their classrooms and then return to bus or parent drop-off area to pick up more kindergartners.  If it is raining and there is a lull before you have 5 students, go ahead an bring them in rather than stand in the rain.
* Volunteers and staff members will remain outside and will escort kindergarten students to their classrooms from parent drop-off and buses until all have arrived.
* Plan to stay until about 9:30am.

DISMISSAL VOLUNTEERS:
Please plan to check in to the office promptly at 3:20pm and bring your identification!  The SLP school district has implemented a new visitor management system called Raptor at each school.  Each volunteer will need to have their ID scanned prior to entering the school.  Also, please bring an umbrella!  The classroom teachers will be escorting their students to the buses.  We will need people who can be available to read bus tags to make sure they are in the correct bus line, and assist with getting kids quickly to buses if they accidentally end up in the Parent Pick up line, or vice-versa.
