Hello WCSI!
Several people have asked if they can still turn in donations towards the fun run and the answer is OF COURSE! It was great to see everyone pitch in and get us soooooo close to our goal! We are still about $1000 short, so if you have an envelope sitting on your counter that didn't get brought to school (or found an envelope still in a backpack after school) drop it off anytime. The online collections for credit cards will still open until Sat. night.
If you weren't able to attend last Monday's PTO meeting - the recording from Facebook Live will be on our page for 30 days. A few highlights were:
1. An introduction to Tony Easter, Woodcrest's School Board Liaison for the year. He reported the board is working on the operational plan with an emphasis on communication & connection, engagement & support. They want all information about curriculum very transparent to student guardians.
2.If you signed up for a committee at last month's PTO meeting/volunteer fair, you should have been entered onto the committee on Konstella (the PTO webpage). Now you will receive any emails the committee chairs send out, such as planning dates or when volunteers are needed to help at a certain event. Many opportunities for Fall Night and Book Fair will be coming up especially Friday, Nov. 4th, Also the Bookfair Buddy Breakfast should be back this year-watch for details to come home soon.
3. We like to have plenty of opportunities for community building around good food and fun people - and our upcoming Dine-To-Donate on Tuesday Oct, 25th is no exception. Grab the family and bring them to the Tipsy Steer at 2025 105th Ave. NE in Blaine. Be warned their milkshakes are two deserts in one and may need to be shared! The PTO usually has 3-4 of these events each year, and when you mention Woodcrest, the PTO gets a percentage of the sales donated to the PTO. (To go orders should be placed online only at https://tipsysteer.com/blaine/)
4. Our annual Student Experience Grant Applications will be online soon. Staff or students who team up with a staff member can submit a request to fund an innovative idea of how to improve Woodcrest. Past grant requests have included a green screen, cardio drumming equipment, gaga ball pit (student led), nine square in the air (student led), picnic tables outside (student led), unique classroom activities/art projects and ukuleles,
5. Conference treats to show WCSI staff our appreciation are planned for next week and if you'd like to help the sign ups are on Konstella.
