HOMEROOM PARENTS NEEDED
Welcome to the 2024-2025 academic year! If you are a returning parent to the school, you are already familiar with the important role a Homeroom Parent plays in a child’s classroom. And if you are new to Woodland, welcome! … and let us explain what being a Homeroom Parent is all about!
Two parents are typically selected for each classroom. The primary responsibility of these two “Homeroom Parents” is to organize and plan the classroom parties throughout the year. Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade have three parties: Fall, Winter, and Fun Day while 4th grade has five parties during the year Fall, Winter, Fun Day, PPP(Pillows, Popcorn & Pajamas) & 4th Grade Social
The fundamental duties of the Homeroom Parents are:
contact the class parents and solicit for party helpers/volunteers
organize and plan food, crafts and games for each party
coordinate all party activities with the teacher
actively lead the party by supervising the games and crafts or find a volunteer parent to attend
- Coordinate holiday and end-of-year teacher gifts
- Assist your teacher with any specific needs, big events or activities
Assist Home & School with obtaining volunteers during the year for specific events, as needed
Serving Woodland as a Homeroom Parent is a very satisfying way of helping the school and students. It not only provides the opportunity to make new friends, but also to interact directly with the students. The children always look forward to the class parties, and we believe it is truly a privilege to be able to connect with the children in such a fun and enjoyable environment. The satisfaction and joy you will reap from your efforts will far surpass the work which you will put into the job – guaranteed!
Please consider this opportunity to be involved in your child’s classroom. If you are motivated and enjoy working with the children, we’re the committee for you!
If you wish to join our team of Homeroom Parents, click here and fill out this form to indicate your interest no later than Friday, September 13thth
Thank you, and here’s to a great school year!
