President (Filled) Signed Up: 1 / 1

This position facilities the strategic planning with the Board. The position presides at monthly PTO meetings. The President serves as a liaison with the Principal, School Leadership, and School Staff and works with this group to determine school needs and where PTO funds may be able to support these efforts. The President serves as a representative of the PTO with outside organizations.

Vice President (Filled) Signed Up: 1 / 1

This position aids the President in any duties necessary. The Vice President conducts PTO business in absence of the President. This position coordinates the Back to School Open House and Curriculum Nights. The Vice President oversees PTO-purchased technology and maintenance thereof. This role coordinates Sunshine Committee, a PTO initiative to recognize teacher birthdays and extend condolences on any staff loss of parent or child, and Kids Come First, an initiative to provide qualifying students with things such as school supplies, field trip payments, or book fair monies.

This position has responsibility for the PTO budget, financial reports, deposits and payments of bills, tax and regulatory filings, review of contracts, maintenance of financial and legal records, recommending and securing PTO insurance coverage, and cash box balances at events.

Communications Director OPEN Signed Up: 1 / 1

Creative and digitally savvy individual who can create flyers for PTO events and activities and think about how to market them. Also attends monthly Board meetings and votes on and considers other things that the PTO does and purchases.

Volunteer Coordinator (Filled) Signed Up: 1 / 1

PTO liaison for Room Parents. Supports Room Parents and communicates details of upcoming events and activities. Assists with PTO volunteer recruitment and needs. Also attends monthly Board meetings and votes on and considers other things that the PTO does and purchases.

Fundraising Chair (Filled) Signed Up: 1 / 1

Oversee fundraising activities of the PTO; most individual fundraisers have a separate chairperson who runs them. This is a Board position, so would need to be able to attend monthly Board meetings.

Annual Fund Campaign Co-Chair OPEN Signed Up: 2 / 2

Coordinate campaign for annual fund, which is when parents simply make donations. Duties include making flyers, determining timing, logging payments and sending out tax receipt emails. Annual Fund campaign typically runs September through early November.

Secretary OPEN Signed Up: 1 / 1

The Recording Secretary compiles meeting minutes for all PTO Board meetings, sends minutes to board members for review, and posts meeting minutes to PTO website. This position updates our PTO Facebook page. This position will work closely with the Communications Director to keep WHE PTO website content updated and relevant.

Special Events (Filled) Signed Up: 1 / 1

This position coordinates family events for Woodland Heights Elementary, including the Father/Daughter dance, Mother/Son event, and any additional family events for the school, as determined by the Family Events Director in conjunction with the Event Committee and any parent input. The Family Events Director is responsible for the themes of these events, securing necessary supplies and vendors, setting up for the events, soliciting and coordinating volunteers, handling any registration, overseeing during the event, and cleaning up after the event.

Planning fundraiser at local restaurants each month.

Staff Appreciation (Filled) Signed Up: 2 / 2

Staff Appreciation Coordinator coordinates the schedule and activities for staff appreciation events. This has historically included the Back to School Luncheon, Holiday Luncheon, Soup and Salad Luncheon, and Teacher Appreciation Week. The responsibility includes scheduling the dates, creating flyers, soliciting and scheduling volunteers, determining what activities to do, and managing the events. This position will also work closely with the Event Committee for execution of the Staff Appreciation Events. This position is good for someone who is creative and interested in party planning.

Birthday Book Nook OPEN Signed Up: 1 / 1

In partnership with Mr. Miller, keeping our birthday book nook stocked and looking neat. (Birthday Book Nook is when each child gets to pick a free book on his/her birthday!) This position will require year-round monitoring, but should be about twenty minutes at a time, totally on the parent’s own schedule. Great option for a working parent.

Boosterthon OPEN Signed Up: 1 / 1

Work with Boosterthon team to run Boosterthon. The Boosterthon team does the VAST majority of this work, but this person works with them to determine timing and check-in throughout the program. Helps draft content for ConnectEds and Facebook about Boosterthon and gets student help to decorate around the school. Boosterthon will be in March.

Holiday Cheer OPEN Signed Up: 1 / 1

Holiday Cheer is our holiday gift to non-classroom staff. Duties include making flyer, collecting payments, and disbursing collected money to all non-classroom staff. This is all done in December. This is a great role for a working parent.

School Supplies OPEN Signed Up: 1 / 1

Work with a company of your choice to give WHE parents the option to pre-order school supplies. Work with the principal to put together the supply list for each grade level. School supply list is finalized in February/March, flyers go home in May/June, and kits arrive and need to be distributed in August. With the exception of the delivery of the kits to classrooms, this can be done largely via email and is a great option for a working parent wanting to get more involved.

Spirit Rock Painter OPEN Signed Up: 1 / 1

Paint the spirit rock on an as-requested basis by the PTO, This was our first year doing this, and it has probably been painted six or seven different times. Rock does need to be painted on evenings or weekends when cars are not in the parking lot, so can be a great option for a working parent.

Spirit Wear Coordinator OPEN Signed Up: 1 / 1

Help manage sale and distribution of WHE spirit wear (t-shirts, hoodies, etc.). This will be a new position, with the parent who fills it able to determine timing of spirit wear pushes, if any.

Spring Fling FUNdraiser OPEN Signed Up: 1 / 1

Plan and execute Spring Fling fundraiser with help from the committee. Most work begins in January and more time is required in the month before the event.

Woodland Heights Academy Coordinator OPEN Signed Up: 1 / 1

Plan class schedule, find instructors and oversee registration with help of committee.

Yearbook OPEN Signed Up: 1 / 1

Help assist Yearbook Coordinator in completing yearbook.

Help coordinate and plan Spring Fling with other committee members.

Front Lobby Window Decorator (Filled) Signed Up: 1 / 1

Decorate the transom windows above the front doors of the school with seasonal decorations or quotes. This will require being comfortable working on a ladder.

Box Top Coordinator (Filled) Signed Up: 1 / 1

Facilitate the collection and counting of box tops with help of box top helpers.

Fitness Gram Helpers OPEN Signed Up: 1 / 1

Work with PE teachers to administer fitness gram tests to third - fifth graders. Requires one, short after school training plus a few mornings over a month to help with actual testing. Exact time to be discussed with Mrs. Woodruff.
