Hello Breakthrough community!

As many of you may recall from recent communications from Ms. Emily, Breakthrough has implemented a number of educational interventions to help our students meet their goals with reading and math. One of those interventions which has proven successful for the students needing additional help with their reading, has been Reading Partners,  with which Breakthrough recently entered into a partnership. In the words of Reading Partners: 

Reading Partners is an education nonprofit that mobilizes community volunteers to provide one-on-one reading literacy tutoring to to aspiring elementary-aged readers. Becoming a volunteer tutor requires no experience, as we provide an easy-to-follow curriculum that includes all of the books, worksheets, and step-by-step lesson plans to teach an effective lesson. 

Breakthough is looking for five volunteers who are interested in being trained as Reading Partners tutors to work  with Breakthrough students (not with students at another school). In addition to the training, volunteering requires a minimum time commitment of one hour per week. (The current tutoring sessions are being held virtually).  The attached volunteer description gives additional details (including a required background check--$17 fee with financial assistance if needed, and reliable computer connection with internet).
