Our Hammer community is stronger when our families are involved!
Throughout the school year, we have a variety of opportunities for parents and guardians to volunteer on campus — from helping with morning valet or recess to supporting events, field trips, classroom activities, and other needs as they arise.

❤️ YOUR INVOLVEMENT MATTERS
Parent involvement isn't just about filling volunteer slots. When families are present and engaged at school, our children see that their education and their school community matter to us.
And you don't need to make a huge time commitment to make a difference!
Maybe you have 20 minutes before work. Maybe you can help once a week. Maybe you're available for an occasional field trip or special event. Maybe you have a particular skill you'd love to share.
You don't have to do everything. We just need lots of people willing to do something. 💙

🌱 CURRENT ONGOING VOLUNTEER NEEDS
🚗 Morning Valet Support
Monday–Friday | 8:45–9:05 AM
Help at one of our two valet locations to welcome students, keep drop-off moving smoothly, and start the morning with a friendly Hammer hello!
☀️ 2nd Recess Support
Monday–Friday | 1:30–2:20 PM
Help provide an extra set of eyes and hands while our students play, connect, and recharge.
You can volunteer once a week, a few times a month, or whenever your schedule allows. Every shift helps!

✅ FIRST STEP: BECOME AN SJUSD APPROVED VOLUNTEER
All on-campus volunteers must be approved through San José Unified School District before volunteering.
If you haven't completed the process yet, do it now! Approval can take some time, and getting approved ahead of time means you'll be ready when a volunteer opportunity comes along that works for you.
