It’s that time of year again, time to get Hammer Montessori Students back into the groove of reading!
The Scholastic Book Fair starts Monday, 8/26, the week before the Annual Hammer Montessori School Read a Thon! The book fair will hopefully get HMS ready and excited for three weeks of fun focused reading!

What’s the best method for allowing your kiddo to shop?
We recommend the e-wallet especially for grades k-2, they lose money easily, especially if they’re carrying coins and bills in their pockets!! Ask your child’s teacher what their preference is for paying for books at the book fair.
**Also, please know that the book fair is also filled with non-book items (think diaries, pencils, erasers, pens, sharpeners, etc.,) so have a conversation with your family about how they should spend their book fair funds.
Scholastic E-Wallets-
If you have money on your scholastic account from last year, you must move it to a gift card and then add that gift card to the new event e-wallet, you’ll have access to the HMS online Book Fair starting this Thursday 8/22.

Plastic Shopping Bags
If you have extra plastic bags (think Target drive up) floating around your house, please hand them off to Mr. Bingham! The parent volunteers working the Book Fair will bag your child’s purchase so they don’t lose their finds before they get home.
Volunteering
Have you been cleared by SJUSD to volunteer? If so, please check out this link to sign up and help during the school day book fair visits! Again, you MUST ALREADY be cleared by the district. You would have already done a TB risk assessment, had your fingerprints scanned and received an email from SJUSD saying you are approved to volunteer.

IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN CLEARED
You will first need to have a cleared TB risk assessment with your Dr, who will determine if you need a TB test or will complete the waiver for you to email to SJUSD. Once you have completed your TB things, then you will be able to start moving on getting approved with SJUSD, including setting up a fingerprint appointment at the district office on Lenzen.
