It's official! The Hammer Annual Read-a-Thon starts today!

This read-a-thon is a school lead fundraising event (not HMF) and will help fund your child(run)'s 5th Grade Science Trip! Any additional monies raised will help the school purchase Montessori related materials and expenses for Montessori Teacher Certification.

Attached you will find the PDF documents necessary to help your student(s) track their reading over the next month. Completed Bingo sheets and books read tracker can be turned in on Friday 9/27 OR the Monday we return from Fall Break.

Dear Hammer Families,

We are kicking off the school year with a Read-a-Thon, an event where children read books with the goal of raising money for a good cause - Hammer.  Students ask family and friends to pledge a dollar amount per book or a flat rate pledge.  The goal is to get the students to establish good healthy reading routines, by reading as many or as few books as they wish, for 20 minutes every night.

The Read-a-Thon will take place throughout the month of September.

We are excited to streamline our fundraiser by going online with 99Pledges.  You will now be able to reach out to friends and family by email, Facebook, and Twitter, instead of going door-to-door, tracking commitments, and handling checks.

How to help fundraise

-Search for your child’s name and teacher, no account log is needed!

-Each student raise $100 during the Read-a-Thon event.

99Pledges takes 0% of Hammer Montessori Fundraising Monies which is amazing! They do ask for “Tips” when you make your pledge. They are a local San Jose company, aiming to support schools only! But of course, they would appreciate a “Tip” as a token of appreciation for their website.

All monies raised will help Science Camp and Montessori Supplies, Certifications and more!.  Science Camp Funds will be tracked by grade and will follow students through to 5th grade.

Feel free to use the attached documents to help your family get into good habits, color in a book for every book read, or, BINGO!  Prizes will be awarded for EITHER the number of books read OR playing BINGO. Please return the completed BINGO sheet and/or Books Read Tracker to the classroom teacher by Friday 9/27 (typo in the attached doc, fyi!)  so that we can make sure your reader receives their prizes after we return from the October week off!
