💙💛 HMF Thursday Update: Hammer Strong & Full Steam Ahead!
What a great Hammer Strong Day! It was so much fun seeing our campus filled with Hammer Strong shirts and our students showing off their school spirit. After everything our community experienced through last year’s transition, there was something especially meaningful about seeing our students together, on our new campus, proudly representing Hammer.
Thank you to everyone who helped get shirts into the hands of our students — Hammer Strong looks pretty great on all of you! 💙💛
🎒🚫 TOMORROW: Anything But a Backpack + FREE DRESS!
Tomorrow is our first Anything But a Backpack Day! Students can leave their regular backpacks at home and bring their school things in any safe, school-appropriate household container instead.
Laundry basket? 🧺 Bucket? 🪣 Suitcase? 🧳 Something we haven't even thought of yet? Even better!
A couple of important reminders: students need to be able to carry and manage their item completely on their own, so please no giant boxes, extremely heavy containers, or anything unsafe.
And remember: all Hammer Spirit Days are FREE DRESS DAYS!
We can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!
🍎 Back to School Night – September 1
Mark your calendars for Tuesday, September 1! Back to School Night is an important opportunity to connect with your child's teacher, learn what to expect this year, and hear how you can support your child at home.
This event is intended for parents and guardians, so we encourage you to leave children at home if possible.
There will be two sessions, with time first in the cafeteria followed by time in your child's classroom. The Book Fair will also be open from 3:30–7:00 PM.
One HMF tip: consider attending the second session if your schedule allows! Historically, the later session has fewer families, which can mean a little more opportunity to connect with your teacher.
Please watch school communications for the final session schedule, as the times in the information currently circulating appear to conflict.
👕 Hammer Shirts Are Now Available!
Now that our students have received their Hammer Strong shirts, you can add some more Hammer spirit to your family's wardrobe!
HMF offers official Hammer Montessori short- and long-sleeve shirts in youth and adult sizes, and they are approved as part of the school uniform.
Orders are processed weekly and delivered directly to your student's classroom the following week.

🎉 Fun Fridays — WOW, Hammer!
We asked for volunteers for our new Fun Fridays, and you all showed up! We have had such an enthusiastic response from parents wanting to help, and we are incredibly excited to see what this group creates.
Fun Fridays will coincide with our monthly Spirit Days and bring an extra dose of fun to second recess through simple themed activities designed to build community, encourage school spirit, and make the school day a little more memorable.
There is absolutely still room to join the fun! If you're an SJUSD-approved volunteer who enjoys creativity, kids, school spirit, or simply wants an easy way to become more involved at Hammer, we'd love to have you.
Thank you to everyone who has already volunteered. This is exactly the kind of parent involvement that makes our community special.
📚🔬➗🌎 We Still Need ONE More Family Night Coordinator!
We're getting so close! We are still looking for one more parent to help coordinate our Educational Family Nights this year.
These evenings bring Hammer families together for hands-on learning and connection, with four events centered around Literacy, Science, Math, and Multicultural learning.
You won't be expected to do everything yourself. We're building a team, and this is an opportunity to help shape some really fun experiences for our kids and families.
If you've been thinking, "I'd like to get involved, but I'm not sure where I fit," — this might be your spot!

⚽♟️🛹 After-School Enrichment Is Back!
Hammer has a fantastic variety of after-school enrichment programs available this year. We work to bring these opportunities to campus because enrichment beyond the classroom is another important part of creating a well-rounded educational experience for our students.
There is at least one option each day — and many days include both indoor and outdoor choices.
Outdoor: Skateboarding • Soccer • Pickleball • Tennis
Indoor: Chess • Mad Science • Knowledge Quest
