🥟 Multicultural Night Market is Wednesday! 🥟

Our third annual Multicultural Night Market is coming up on September 23rd from 6:00 - 8:00 pm in Lafayette's yard. Sign up to provide night-of support here.

📸 School Picture Days 📸

School Pictures will be taken by LifeTouch on Wednesday the 23rd and Thursday the 24th. You can order them through the packet that was sent home with your Lafayette student(s) or you can order online on LifeTouch's website.

Here is the list of classrooms and the day they're getting their photos taken:

Our yearly pre-order shop is open here! This may be the only chance to pre-order this year, so don't miss it!

Orders must be placed by 11:59pm on Friday the 25th.

When ordering, please note a name and classroom in the "add a note to seller field". All orders will be screenprinted locally in one big batch in October and delivered directly to classrooms in early November.

If you haven’t registered yet, please sign up ASAP—you do’nut want to miss it!

Shirt Color Reveal (Tuesday): Tune in during morning announcements to see this year's shirt color, chosen by last year's top fundraiser, Koa!

Gear Pick-Up (Thursday & Friday): Grab your bib and t-shirt in the schoolyard before school. T-shirt sizes are first-come, first-served. (Sunday pickup at the start line is also available).

Fundraising Page Fixed: Apologies for the technical snag—the "Make Your Page" feature on Givebutter is now working! To make up for lost time, fundraising will stay open two weeks after the run. Remember, this year's fundraiser winner will get to pick next year's t-shirt color. (Fundraising is completely optional).

Current Donors: If you’ve already donated, we'll ensure those funds are credited to your student.

Event Details: Sunday September 27th beginning at 8:30 am for the 5k and 9:15 for the 1 mile @ Blue Heron Boathouse in Golden Gate Park

🚗 Volunteers needed for parking fundraiser 🚗

Our Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Parking Fundraiser is coming up first weekend in October and we need volunteers. Come stand around, help take Venmo/Square payments, and direct concert goers to a parking spot. That's it! 
 
How many volunteers do we need? 
A lot! Shifts are two hours each and we need a minimum of 2 volunteers per slot.  If you know of any high schoolers that have any volunteer obligations - this is a slam dunk to knock out those hours.
 
Where is this?
This year we have TWO parking locations: Lafayette's yard (Fri, Sat & Sun) and 750 25th Avenue (Sat & Sun).

Hello Dolphin Community! 

Now that we’ve officially wrapped up our first month of school, I want to take a moment to say thank you to all of our Lafayette families for the many ways you have already shown up for our students and school community. Families have been volunteering at lunch and in classrooms, chaperoning field trips, arriving bright and early to support Stop, Drop, & Go, leading and supporting fundraisers, and helping in countless other ways behind the scenes. Also, a big appreciation to all the families that were able to join us at our first PTA meeting of the year. This kind of involvement is a big part of what makes Lafayette such an amazing community and a great place to teach and learn. We are so grateful for your partnership!

As we head into next week, don’t forget about our upcoming Picture Days on 9/23 & 9/24. Check out your class’s Picture Day schedule HERE. We also have an exciting opportunity to celebrate our Lafayette community! Join us for our Multicultural Night Market on September 23 at 6:00p to celebrate the many cultures that make Lafayette such a vibrant community. Connect with your classroom teacher or Room Parent for details about your class’s plans for the evening. And don’t forget to show your Lafayette pride! September 25 is the last day to preorder Lafayette Spirit Wear. Grab some Lafayette swag so your students can rep our school on campus and beyond!

🌱 Parent Workshop: Building Resilience Through Self-Care

September 24, 5:00-6:30p: Our partners at the Richmond Neighborhood Center will be hosting a workshop for parents and caregivers at Lafayette on 9/24 at 5:00p. This workshop will be focused on practical strategies for managing stress and building resilience through self-care. Check out the information HERE, or on the Konstella Calendar.

🚌 Field Trip Chaperones

Please review the updated chaperone requirements and instructions below, including guidance for navigating the ASCIP platform and completing the required Mandated Reporter training. Thanks for your patience in navigating this new requirement.

📝 Multipurpose Family Income Form (MFIF)

We are working toward 100% completion and need every family’s help (We’re only at 53.5% 😢)! Please complete your MFIF if you haven’t already. More information and instructions are included below.

What is the MFIF, and why is it important?

The Multipurpose Family Income Form (MFIF) is a quick annual form that helps Lafayette and community partners access important funding and benefits for students.

Completing the MFIF helps:

• Determine school funding for academic programs and services.

• Prioritize eligible students for afterschool programs.

• Connect eligible families with benefits like $120 SunBucks (Summer EBT), internet access, and more. See the Family Benefits Guide for details.

🤝 English Learner Advisory Council & School Site Council

September 30, 6:00-7:30p: Mark your calendars for our upcoming joint English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) and School Site Council (SSC) meeting. Participating in these groups is a great way to get involved, share your perspective, and help us create a supportive learning environment for all of our students. 

What is ELAC?

The English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) brings together families and staff to:

• Give input on programs and services for English Learners

• Share ideas to support student success

• Celebrate the languages and cultures in our community

What is SSC?

A School Site Council (SSC) is required at every SFUSD public school. Elected members include parents, staff, students, and community members who help guide school success planning and budget priorities.

The SSC:

• Reviews school and student data and gathers community input

• Helps develop and monitor the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA)

• Reviews the SFUSD Strategic Plan

• Approves the school’s SPSA and site budget before submission to the District

Bright Spots

Deaf Awareness Month
In honor of September’s Deaf & Hard of Hearing Awareness Month, teachers and our school Librarian, Ms. Jer, have been reading texts that uplift our DHH community. Additionally, we had some student representatives from our DHH program teach and lead our school community in our school’s Pledge of Respect in American Sign Language!

Capoeira

Jarrell Phillips is back at Lafayette teaching Capoeira as an after school enrichment and in rotations for 1st, 2nd, 3rd grade and 5th grade students during the school day. He combines rhythm, movement, coordination, and bodily awareness through fun and engaging activities. 

STEAM

Mr. Ly has been engaging students in great hands-on STEAM activities, including planning and building cardboard monsters that will later be used as characters for students’ upcoming stop-motion animation projects. Students have loved the opportunity to get creative as they design, iterate, and build their monsters. 

Splash Awards

Let’s celebrate this week’s Splash Award winners! These students stood out for making positive choices, supporting others, and helping make Lafayette a welcoming and caring community. We’re proud to recognize the many ways they make a positive impact each day!

Repeated Reminders

• Enrichment Reminder:

•  Enrichment Pick-Up: Please meet your student on time at the northeast gate on 36th Avenue, near the bike racks.

• In the morning, use Stop, Drop, and Go on Anza Street for a safe and efficient morning drop-off. Please do not park or drop-off in the white bus zone, double park, or allow students to exit on the opposite side of the street. This is for the safety of your students!

• Sign Up for Stop, Drop, & Go!

• Please read the new SFUSD Lost, Damaged, or Stolen Chromebooks Letter to Families.

• The play structure is reserved for YMCA and RNC programs after school. For the safety and security of students in aftercare, families not enrolled in these programs should use alternate play areas after dismissal. Cabrillo Playground, just down the street, is a great option. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

• Bikes and scooters should be walked on the school yard. This is for the safety of our students.
