Dear Families and Colleagues,
As the days get warmer and the trees are in bloom, I know summer is top-of-mind for many. I’m thrilled about the summer opportunities available to our students through Summer Rising and other programs, and we will have more to share about these experiences in upcoming issues of this newsletter.
But before we get there, I want to share a critically important reminder: school is in session through June 26, and every day counts! Attendance is an essential foundation for learning—not just at the start of the school year but through the very last day.
Attendance matters at all grade levels; it is linked to academic success and long-term outcomes. Even missing 2 to 3 days of school a month can add up—and can result in a student being chronically absent. We know consistent attendance takes true partnership, and we are here to help families overcome attendance barriers however we can. Families, you can always contact your school’s parent coordinator, Mrs. Garces (646) 204-6433 to ask questions and request support.
June is an especially important time for your child to build their skills and celebrate successes with their school community. Our teachers and staff are here to help your child learn, grow, and prepare for the steps ahead.
Our schools are better places when all our children are there. Let’s finish strong together—because every day counts!
In partnership,
Melissa Aviles-Ramos
Chancellor
