Running Club Scanners Needed!
Each year Students are PUMPED to earn running club feet (every 10 miles), ribbons (every 25 miles) and end of year awards (75 miles for TK, 100 miles for Kinder and above) and this is a fun and easy way to support.
Join us in the mornings at running club to scan using the SLT lap tracker Apy. No experience necessary! Running club begins promptly at 8:40am and we request all Running Club Scanners to be in position with scanner device by 8:35am. You will be contacted with Scanner directions if you sign up. It's as simple as loading an App! Directions will also be located at the upper track PE closet and lower Track PE shed.

🌊 Annual Giving is Underway! 🌊

Have a Whale of a Heart and Do Your Part

Join us in supporting our community.  Every contribution - big or small - helps provide essential programs, resources, and opportunities for our students.  Together, we can make waves of impact.  An Annual Giving Campaign information flyer will be sent home in your child's folder this week.

Here's how you can help:

1.    Select "attend" as your RSVP to acknowledge that the Annual Giving campaign is underway.  You can do so here: Acknowledge Annual Giving.   The goal is for all classes to achieve a 95% acknowledgement rate. This acknowledgement does not commit you to donate but rather confirms you know our Annual Giving campaign is occurring. All classes reaching 95% will receive a reward.

2.    Donate any amount!  KidsFirst has budgeted an average of $650/student in this school year's budget.  Every dollar makes a difference! Make your Annual Giving Donation HERE!

3.    Share the link!  If you'd like to share this opportunity with family and friends please consider sharing this link: Public Donations Link.

4.    Sponsor a Legacy Event! Prefer to sponsor a Legacy Event and select exactly where your money is used?  Sponsor a Legacy Event HERE.

5.    Corporate Matching.  Many companies will offer Corporate Matches when employees donate to a non-profit organization.  Be sure to check if your company participates so we can count it towards your family's pledge.  For questions on Corporate Matches, please contact Marin Silva via Konstella or email kidsfirstgivingsve@gmail.com.

On Behalf of KidsFirst, all of our wonderful students, and our amazing community members - We "whaley" THANK YOU for your support!

Please send in your family pictures from the summer and beginning of school for our SVE Community Board!

Konstella Info & Support
Many documents and links are posted (and others will be added) to Konstella (Look under "More --> Files & Links").  We encourage parents to search there first for documents and links that have been referenced in emails from Principal O'Connor, SDUSD, or other sources.  Examples of files and links available include:
Konstella Reminders/Help:
  • To Merge: To merge with additional parents on Konstella, confirm the spelling of the child's first and last name match exactly, even capital letters, and Konstella will auto populate an option to merge. NOTE: Merging does not allow the merged members to see anything you do through Konstella, it is a way for teachers and staff to see the child's family and know that everyone will be receiving any announcements provided.
  • To add a child: Go to your settings then go to "your children"
  • To edit/add a classroom: Go to your settings then go to "your children", click on your child's name then click classroom.
  • Notifications: To manage how you are notified about events, click on settings and notifications and specify how often you would like to hear from us.
  • Calendar: You can also SYNC our SVE calendar. Open your app, click on calendar and then in the top right click SYNC. It is suggested that you click on "SYNC ALL" this will allow the system to add your personal sign ups to your calendar as well, ie. teacher conferences, volunteer times, etc.
If you need additional help, Konstella also offers many tips and tricks through their online videos: Konstella Training Videos. Alternatively, you can reach out to Jenny Skahen, KF Communications Chair, through Konstella.

With regards to volunteer positions, we would like to request that you NOT put your name on any current openings as we have some positions that already have committed leads and we will populate those positions and notify the community with others are available to be filled. This also includes ROOM PARENT sign-ups.  Please do NOT sign up for these positions at this time.  These roles will be identified during Back-To-School night on August 20th.

Parking
It is a well known fact that parking around Sunset View is a challenge!  Please allow yourself plenty of time to find parking before and after school.  Do NOT attempt to enter the lower parking lot after 8:00am. Unless you are using a handicap spot or you are one of the two families that purchased the parking space or the golf cart spot at last year's auction, parking is NOT allowed in the lower lot during pick-up or drop off.    (Those who have students attending morning SAY may drop off before teachers arrive for the day.)

Please note that signage along Hill Street has changed and the majority of the space directly in front of the entrance is now marked as active loading/unloading. Please adhere to this loading zone and do not park in this area if you intend to leave your vehicle.
