Walnut Acres Families,

The Darcie Jones Book Drive is March 3rd-7th! We are collecting new and gently used books for ages 11 and under. These books will benefit "Books for the Barrios", a non-profit that has the goal of building libraries for children in need in the Philippines. Also if you want to donate books in Spanish , those will support the monolingual families at Shore Acres Elementary School.

Please drop off donations by the office. Children’s books ONLY!

This community service drive was named after Darcie Jones, a Walnut Acres parent who started a book drive in the Spring of 1994 to benefit the summer reading program at Meadow Homes Elementary School in Concord. After she died of cancer on December 31, 1996, the PFC renamed the book drive “The Darcie Jones Book Drive” and planted a tree outside the 3rd grade wing in honor of all that she had contributed to Walnut Acres Elementary School.
