1. Fall Giving Campaign Update: Goal Reached!
Thanks to the incredible support of our school families, we are happy to announce that we have met our Fall Giving Campaign goal. The PTA sincerely thanks everyone who has donated time, money, and skills to support our school this year. Your continued generosity helps enrich our students’ experience and strengthens our community. Be on the lookout for information about the "Spring Sport-a-thon," the PTAs second and final major fundraising event for the year!
2. No school - 1/19 (TK-8) & 1/20 (6-8)
A reminder that there are no classes at either campus on Monday, January 19 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. There is no school on Tuesday, January 20 for MIDDLE SCHOOL ONLY (6-8) due to Secondary Work Day. Enjoy the long weekend!
3. PTA Third General Meeting Recap

4. Lunar New Year Performance - Thursday, January 29
The annual WCMS Lunar New Year Performance will take place on Thursday, January 29, starting at 5:00 pm in the Multi-purpose Room at our elementary campus. Students from both campuses are preparing exciting performances to welcome the Year of the Horse, so we hope you will be able to join us! More details, including the program, are available on Konstella here. We still need volunteers to help us with setting up/decorating, photography, and cleaning up–please sign up here on Konstella. Thank you for helping to make this annual tradition possible!
5. Volunteers for Enrollment Tours
We are looking for several parent volunteers to attend upcoming WCMS enrollment tours. These events are for families interested in enrolling in our school, in advance of the district application process. Parent volunteers would help to answer questions from attendees and discuss their experience with WCMS. There are both in-person events and virtual events (6-7pm). The dates are as follows:
Thank you all so much for helping to put on our Holiday Appreciation Tea event for teachers and staff back in December! Everyone enjoyed the delicious food and drinks and were deeply appreciative of the love and support they received from our school community. So, to celebrate Lunar New Year/ Valentine's Day, we'd like to do it again! Please sign up here on Konstella to represent your class to bring food or drinks on Wednesday, February 11th, when teachers and staff from both campuses will meet at our elementary site in the afternoon. Food items may be cooked or bought, and the quantity does not need to be large, just enough for 4 to 6 people. Thank you for coming together to make this happen!
7. Calling for Yearbook Committee Volunteers!
It’s time to begin planning this year’s yearbook. We are currently a small group and looking for a few new members. If you’ve used applications similar to Picaboo, Shutterfly, Mixed Books, then this should be up your alley. No experience really required, but you’ll need access to a computer (a tablet won’t suffice). Those interested are asked to submit their availability for a meeting using the following Doodle Poll: https://doodle.com/group-poll/participate/aQL3VDZe
8. Sports Updates
BASKETBALL: WCMS basketball practices are starting up again, led by Coach Figgs! We will have an open gym practice for grades 2 and up next Friday, Jan. 23rd at the Betty Reid Soskin Middle School gym from 6-8 pm. No prior basketball experience needed. We plan to break up practices by age group moving forward, but more details to come! To stay up-to-date, please join the "Saturday Sports" group in Konstella.
Note that parents must bring the QR code from Verkada (with photo ID) in order to volunteer.

10. Reminders
- Traffic Reminder: there is no left turn into the school from Mann Drive during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. Instead of turning onto Mann Drive from Appian Way, please take Marlesta Road to help with the flow of traffic. (see map for refresher)
- Lost and Found: The school’s lost and found is overflowing! If your child has lost something at school, have your child check it for any missing items, or come check it yourself after school! The school will be clearing out the Lost and Found every month or so, rather than waiting until a school break.
- Join the PTA: Please consider joining if you have not already done so! Your membership helps support programming and experiences for our school. Yearly membership is $16 per person–click here to pay online.
- Spirit Wear Sales: Looking to buy some WCMS gear? Visit our Spirit Wear Website.
- Volunteer: Apply at each school site(s) where you wish to volunteer and provide evidence of a cleared TB screening to the front office. - 交通提醒：上午送孩子和下午接孩子期间，禁止从曼恩大道 (Mann Drive)左转进入学校。请从阿皮安路 (Appian Way) 转入曼恩大道 (Mann Drive)，以疏导交通。（请查看地图了解详情）
- 失物招领：学校的失物招领处已经人满为患了！如果您的孩子在学校丢失了东西，请让孩子检查一下，或者放学后自己过来查看！ 学校大约每个月都会清理一次失物招领处，而不是等到假期才清理。
