1. West Contra Costa Education Fair - Saturday, January 24
Come to the WCC Education Fair on January 24th from 10AM to 1:00PM for an opportunity to engage with district representatives, as well as learn about all of the educational resources that are available to students and families! The annual WCMS Lunar New Year Performance will take place on Thursday, January 29, starting at 5:00 pm in the Multi-purpose Room at our elementary campus. Students from both campuses are preparing exciting performances to welcome the Year of the Horse, so we hope you will be able to join us! More details, including the program, are available on Konstella here. We still need volunteers to help us with setting up/decorating, photography, and cleaning up–please sign up here on Konstella. Thank you for helping to make this annual tradition possible! Chinese food, pizza, and desserts will be available for purchase, with proceeds supporting the 5th Grade Camping Trip and the 7th Grade China Trip.

6. Lunar New Year Teacher/Staff Appreciation Tea - Wednesday, February 11
Thank you all so much for helping to put on our Holiday Appreciation Tea event for teachers and staff back in December! Everyone enjoyed the delicious food and drinks and were deeply appreciative of the love and support they received from our school community. So, to celebrate Lunar New Year/ Valentine's Day, we'd like to do it again! Please sign up here on Konstella to represent your class to bring food or drinks on Wednesday, February 11th, when teachers and staff from both campuses will meet at our elementary site in the afternoon. Food items may be cooked or bought, and the quantity does not need to be large, just enough for 4 to 6 people. Thank you for coming together to make this happen!
7. Volunteers for Enrollment Tours
We are still looking for several parent volunteers to attend upcoming WCMS enrollment tours. These events are for families interested in enrolling in our school, in advance of the district application process. Parent volunteers would help to answer questions from attendees and discuss their experience with WCMS. There are both in-person events and virtual events (6-7pm). The dates are as follows:
BASKETBALL: WCMS basketball practices are starting up again, led by Coach Figgs! We will have an open gym practice for grades 2 and up TONIGHT, Jan. 23rd at the Betty Reid Soskin Middle School gym from 6-8 pm. No prior basketball experience needed. Future practices are being planned. To stay up-to-date, please join the "Saturday Sports" group in Konstella.
Note that parents must bring the QR code from Verkada (with photo ID) in order to volunteer.

BADMINTON: WCMS Badminton is back for Spring 2026 for 5th–8th grade students! Practices will be held on Wednesdays from 6:00–7:30 PM at the Soskin Campus Gym, running from January 21 through April 1, 2026. Students will learn fundamentals, practice, and play in a fun, team-focused setting with two parent coaches. 10. Reminders
- Lost and Found: The school’s lost and found is overflowing! If your child has lost something at school, have your child check it for any missing items, or come check it yourself after school! The school will be clearing out the Lost and Found every month or so, rather than waiting until a school break.
- Join the PTA: Please consider joining if you have not already done so! Your membership helps support programming and experiences for our school. Yearly membership is $16 per person–click here to pay online.
