1. Holiday Break
A reminder that there is no school during the holiday recess (December 22, 2025 - January 2, 2026). Our weekly newsletter will pause over winter vacation and will resume on Friday, January 9th. Wishing all of our WCMS families a joyful holiday! Classes will resume on Monday, January 5th, 2026.
2. Fall Giving Campaign Updates: +$23,000 left to raise to hit our goal
The PTA would like to express gratitude for all of the families who have donated time, money, and expertise to the school this academic year. Thanks to all of you, we have raised $113,000 in the Fall Giving Campaign. But, we still have a ways to get to our goal of $136,000 by December 31, 2025. We have +$23,000 left to raise to hit our goal. We need to fundraise approximately $535 per student each year to support all of our school’s programs, which include PE, music, STEM, mindfulness, restorative justice, and more. Your gift of any amount during the Fall Giving Campaign will help make sure that our children continue to receive all of the elements of a well-rounded education. 3. Children’s WCMS T-shirt Bulk Order
Every WCMS student should have a school T-shirt to be worn during upcoming study trips, Sport-a-Thon, and other events. If your student needs a shirt, you may join the PTA's bulk order to purchase at a discounted price (compared with what is available for individual purchase directly from our spirit wear online store). To participate, please go to this link to place your order. Shirts are available for $16. Families who are unable to afford a shirt may opt to receive one shirt per student, provided free of charge by the PTA. Orders must be placed by Friday, January 9, 2026. Shirts will be delivered to students in class in mid- February. Click here for more details.
4. SF Chinese New Year Parade Sign-ups Now Open
WCMS has once again been selected to participate in the world famous SF Chinese New Year Parade! The Parade is during the late afternoon to early evening of Saturday, March 7th, 2026 in SF Chinatown. If you would like your child to participate in the parade, the deadline to register is Tuesday, January 6th. There are 50 total spots available for students in grades K-8, and it is first-come, first-served. (Due to the demands of practice sessions and learning choreography, participation is not available for TK students at this time–thank you for your understanding!) If your student is selected, they must participate in practices during lunch time or after school in January, February, and the first week of March. You will be emailed if your student is selected to participate or is on the waiting list. Please fill out one form below for each student you wish to sign up. https://forms.gle/PRstMfFEyN81uJSd6. 5. Help Needed for Upcoming Enrollment Tours
We are looking for several parent volunteers to attend upcoming WCMS enrollment tours. These events are for families interested in enrolling in our school, in advance of the district application process. Parent volunteers would help to answer questions from attendees and discuss their experience with WCMS. There are both in-person events and virtual events (6-7pm). The dates are as follows:
StudioFive10 will be hosting a Christmas Toy Giveaway at the Cal Alumni Association (1 Alumni House, Berkeley, CA 94720) on Sunday, December 21st. They are also offering FREE admission to the Cal Men’s Basketball Game on December 21st at 2:00 pm against the Columbia Lions at Haas Pavilion (115 Haas Pavilion, Berkeley, CA 94720). Families MUST attend the Cal Men’s Basketball Game in order to receive a toy. RSVP Required to Attend! Please see the attached flyer and more details can be found here.
8. Sports Committee Updates
BASKETBALL: We are gearing up to start basketball for 2nd-8th grade thanks to parent coach Reggie Figgs, who started this program last year. We need additional parent volunteers to make this possible. VOLLEYBALL: Volleyball Season Wrap-Up 🏐
Our volleyball team wrapped up their season at the recent tournament, and they played incredibly well! The kids showed so much growth, strong teamwork, and amazing support for one another. Most importantly, they had a lot of fun along the way. We’re so proud of how much they’ve improved this season. A big thank you to all the parent volunteers for your time and support. What a great season!
BADMINTON: WCMS Badminton has completed the winter semester season, and we’re looking forward to the fall/spring season ahead. Students learned the basics of badminton and built skills through on-court practice. Thank you to all the parents and students for your participation and support—we can’t wait for another great season!

Support our school by placing an online order for pickup or delivery at any Panda Express location nationwide on Thursday, January 8. 10. Open Volunteer Positions

- PTA Committees - many of our committees still need volunteers, and some (such as our JEDI, ART, STEAM committees) still need committee chairs. On the Konstella app, click on “Directory” and “Browse Committees” to see available roles. You may also contact programsvp@wcmspta.org with any questions.
- Elementary Drop-off and Pick-up - We are looking for morning volunteers and afternoon volunteers to help with drop-off and pick-up at the elementary site.
- Elementary recess/lunch - We are looking for morning lunch and recess volunteers to help at the elementary site.
11. Reminders
- Traffic Reminder: there is no left turn into the school from Mann Drive during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. Instead of turning onto Mann Drive from Appian Way, please take Marlesta Road to help with the flow of traffic. (see map for refresher)
- Lost and Found: The school’s lost and found is overflowing! If your child has lost something at school, have your child check it for any missing items, or come check it yourself after school! The school will be clearing out the Lost and Found every month or so, rather than waiting until a school break.
- Join the PTA: Please consider joining if you have not already done so! Your membership helps support programming and experiences for our school. Yearly membership is $16 per person–click here to pay online.
