1. Fall Fundraising: Building a safer, stronger TK-8 campus together
Our unified TK-8 campus is becoming the home of the WCMS community. Creating that home takes more than classrooms; it requires thoughtful improvements, school-wide resources, and attention to student safety.

Campus improvements and safety-related needs are among the areas supported by PTA fundraising. Flexible community donations help the PTA respond where school resources are stretched and where an investment can benefit many students at once.

A Fall Giving contribution at any level helps us build a campus where students and staff can learn, connect, and thrive. Together, we can make our shared space stronger for everyone.

2. Reminder: WCMS Annual Trunk or Treat is TONIGHT, 10/23
Get ready for a spooktacular evening! Our annual Trunk or Treat is happening tonight, October 23, from 5:00–7:00 PM! A huge THANK YOU to our WCMS community for the generous candy donations that help fill our trunks with treats, and to all our amazing trunk participants for bringing their creativity and Halloween spirit to make this event extra special!

Event Entrance & Reminders

• Entrance: Please enter through the gate on the south side of the middle school building. From there, walk straight down to the Middle School Basketball Blacktops.

• Vote for Your Favorite Trunk! Look for the posted QR codes and cast your vote for the trunk you love most!

• Building Access: To help keep everyone safe, please refrain from entering the school buildings. The event will primarily take place on the Middle School Blacktops.

• Restrooms: Restrooms are located in the courtyard.

Trunk or Treat Fundraisers

Come hungry and support our WCMS students!

• 7th Grade Food Sales: Our 7th graders will be selling food to help support their student study trips. Check out the attached menu!

• Spooky Haunted House: Our middle schoolers are hosting a frightfully fun Haunted House! 👻 ($5 for 1 ticket, $15 for a pack of 4 tickets, $20 for an unlimited-visit wristband)

3. Costume Parade and Minimum Day 10/30
Our annual Costume Parade is on Friday, October 30 at approximately 8:30 AM. Students will "parade" around the elementary school blacktop/playground area in their costumes. Students may wear costumes over their school uniforms. Scary costumes, masks, and depictions of violence (including fake weapons) are not permitted. Students will remove their costumes after the parade and have regular instruction for the rest of the day. Participation is optional, with alternative activities available.

Parents will be permitted to enter the blacktop/playground area to observe the parade (but parents may not participate in the parade). Due to district security protocols, parents may not enter the school buildings from the outside blacktop/playground area unless they have signed in at the school office and are volunteering in an approved capacity at that time.

Our middle school students have their own separate special activities on October 30. Details will be posted in middle school student's Google Classroom and teacher newsletters.

4. REMINDER:RESPONSE REQUESTED - Survey for 4th and 5th Graders Students
Attention 4th and 5th grade parents:

As you may know, WCMS received a grant from the City of Richmond. The grant helps support PE, gardening, and family events like Multicultural Potluck Night. As part of the grant, we must conduct a brief evaluation survey.

We are asking 4th and 5th grade students who live in Richmond and the surrounding unincorporated areas to participate in the 5-minute survey.

1. Recaudación de fondos de otoño: Construyendo juntos un campus TK-8 más seguro y fuerte.

3. Desfile de disfraces y día mínimo 30/10
Nuestro  desfile anual de disfraces es el viernes  30 de octubre aproximadamente a las 8:30 a. m. Los estudiantes "desfilarán" alrededor del área de la cancha/patio de recreo de la escuela primaria con sus disfraces. Los estudiantes pueden usar disfraces sobre sus uniformes escolares . No se permiten disfraces aterradores , máscaras ni representaciones de violencia (incluidas armas falsas ) . Los estudiantes se quitarán sus disfraces después del desfile y tendrán instrucción regular durante el resto del día.  La participación es opcional, con actividades alternativas disponibles.

Se permitirá a los padres ingresar al área de la cancha/patio de recreo para observar el desfile (pero los padres no pueden participar en el desfile). Debido a los protocolos de seguridad del distrito, los padres no pueden ingresar a los edificios escolares desde el área exterior de la cancha/patio de recreo a menos que se hayan registrado en la oficina de la escuela y estén siendo voluntarios en una capacidad aprobada en ese momento.
