3. Elementary Parent Teacher Conferences and Minimum Days - November 12-13
Please check Parent Square for details from your child’s teachers regarding signing up for parent-teacher conferences. Conference time slots will be available in the afternoons on November 12-13. Please note that the elementary campus will be on a minimum day schedule on November 13. Dismissal will be at 1:30 PM for grades TK-3, and 1:50 PM for grades 4-5.
4. Sign up for the Multicultural Potluck - Thursday, November 13
Join us on Thursday, November 13th, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:30pm in the multipurpose room on the elementary campus. It is a wonderful opportunity for families to learn about the rich heritage and diverse culinary traditions within our community through sampling delicious dishes. Please sign up to bring a favorite food or drink to share. In the spirit of sustainability, we encourage everyone to bring tupperware or reusable containers to reduce food waste. Families fundraising for class field trips will sell drinks, run an opportunity drawing, and sell blanket pre-orders. The Name Exploration Team (Next) will have a table where members of our community can suggest possible new names for us to consider as we continue to explore renaming the school.
5. Free CalKIDS College Savings Check at the Multicultural Potluck!
Did you know many California students already have free money set aside for college—and some families don’t even know it?
At our Multicultural Potluck next Thursday (11/13), we’ll have a friendly table where families can:

Blankets are 50" x 60" and are made of soft micro-plush (300GSM medium weight blanket), selling for $40 each. If we sell at least 25 blankets, they should arrive at the school and be distributed to families before winter break! Blankets are proudly made in the USA.
The popular opportunity drawing is back at the MultiCultural Potluck! We're raising funds for the 8th-grade culminating field trip and invite everyone to join the fun.

7. Yearbook Photo Selection
Log in to Kid Clix with your access code and select the photo of your child that you would like to use for yearbook. Students were provided access codes/QR code on picture day and parents should have received an email from Kid Clix; if you never received one, you can contact Kid Clix directly at support@kidclixphoto.com. 8. Make-up Photo Days 11/13 (elementary) and 11/14 (middle)
If your child was absent on picture day, or you’d like for them to retake their photo, please sign up here: Make-up Photo Sign-up. Make-up photos will be taken on Thursday, November 13 for elementary students, and Friday, November 14 for middle school students. Please make sure that students are wearing their navy blue polo tops for the photos.
9. Sports Committee Updates
BASKETBALL: Hello WCMS community, great news that we're getting ready to start up basketball again with parent coach, Reggie Figgs. If your student is interested in playing basketball this school year, please complete the interest form below. For now, we're working to gauge student interest and recruit more volunteers/coaches. We are starting with grades 2nd-8th. https://forms.gle/
BADMINTON: 5th–8th grade badminton practice has kicked off! We’ve been meeting with 22 students on Mondays and plan to add Friday sessions as well. Please check out the practice pictures, here. Parent chaperone and students have really enjoyed learning new techniques and practicing their skills together. We’re also planning a semester-end tournament in December—more details to come!
10. After-school Chess Class Updates
Unfortunately due to parent teacher conferences there are no classrooms available. Chess classes will start the week of November 17th. Spaces are still available if you would like to sign up, visit the Konstella announcement here. 11. PTA Second General Meeting Agenda - 11/20
Save the date! Our second PTA General Meeting of the year is coming up on Thursday, November 20, starting at 6 PM on Zoom. Plan on joining for updates on our Fall Fundraising Campaign, budget, upcoming events, and more. Your voices are vital to the strength of our school community, so please join us! 12. Last Week for Five Little Monkeys Fundraiser!
Looking for educational toys, games, and books for your holiday shopping list? Make a purchase between Nov. 1-15, 2025 at Five Little Monkeys using the code WCMS2025, and the store will donate 15% to WCMS PTA. Shop online or in-store (1240 Solano Ave, Albany). Please share the code among family and friends! Apologies shoppers, the store clarified that gift certificate purchases do not count towards the giveback program, only in-store and online purchases of goods.
13. Open Volunteer Positions
Note that parents must bring the QR code from Verkada (with photo ID) in order to volunteer.
- PTA Committees - many of our committees still need volunteers, and some (such as our JEDI, ART, STEAM committees) still need committee chairs. On the Konstella app, click on “Directory” and “Browse Committees” to see available roles. You may also contact programsvp@wcmspta.org with any questions.
- Elementary Drop-off and Pick-up - We are looking for morning volunteers and afternoon volunteers to help with drop-off and pick-up at the elementary site.
- Elementary recess/lunch - We are looking for morning lunch and recess volunteers to help at the elementary site.
14. Reminders
- Traffic Reminder: there is no left turn into the school from Mann Drive during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. Instead of turning onto Mann Drive from Appian Way, please take Marlesta Road to help with the flow of traffic. (see map for refresher)
- Lost and Found: The school’s lost and found is overflowing! If your child has lost something at school, have your child check it for any missing items, or come check it yourself after school! The school will be clearing out the Lost and Found every month or so, rather than waiting until a school break.
- Join the PTA: Please consider joining if you have not already done so! Your membership helps support programming and experiences for our school. Yearly membership is $16 per person–click here to pay online.
- Spirit Wear Sales: Looking to buy some WCMS gear? Visit our Spirit Wear Website.
- Volunteer: Apply at each school site(s) where you wish to volunteer and provide evidence of a cleared TB screening to the front office. Please check the district website for school site-specific volunteer links. Volunteers must reapply by November 30, 2025 and submit TB documentation. Here is the link to reapply. 2. No hay clases - Lunes 10 y martes 11 de noviembre

3. Reuniones de padres y maestros de primaria y jornada reducida - 12 y 13 de noviembre
Consulten Parent Square para obtener información de los maestros de sus hijos sobre cómo inscribirse en las reuniones de padres y maestros.
