1. Fall Giving Campaign Updates
The PTA would like to express gratitude for all of the families who have donated time, money, and expertise to the school this academic year. Thanks to all of you, we have crossed the $100,000 threshold in the Fall Giving Campaign. But, we still have a ways to get to our goal of $136,000 by December 31, 2025. We have +$29,000 left to raise to hit our goal. We need to fundraise approximately $535 per student each year to support all of our school’s programs, which include PE, music, STEM, mindfulness, restorative justice, and more. Your gift of any amount during the Fall Giving Campaign will help make sure that our children continue to receive all of the elements of a well-rounded education. 2. Help Needed for Upcoming Enrollment Tours
We are looking for several parent volunteers to attend upcoming WCMS enrollment tours. These events are for families interested in enrolling in our school, in advance of the district application process. Parent volunteers would help to answer questions from attendees and discuss their experience with WCMS. There are both in-person events and virtual events (6-7pm). The dates are as follows:
The PTA is planning a teachers and staff holiday tea/luncheon. Teaching is a challenging job and our teachers are not only committed, they are also outstanding. This holiday tea/luncheon on Wednesday, 12/17 is to show our appreciation for their efforts and dedication. The quantity does not need to be large, just enough for 4 to 6 people. The food can be dropped off at the elementary school site front office by 11 am on 12/17. Please label ingredients (allergens, meat, gluten), if possible. 4. MAA American Mathematics Competition 8
The AMC 8 is a 25-question, 40-minute competition designed for students in grade 8 and below. The AMC 8 provides an opportunity for middle school students to develop positive attitudes towards analytical thinking and mathematics that can assist in future careers. Although the competition is focused towards middle school students, we encourage upper elementary grades to participate for the experience. Interested? Sign up here. The deadline to sign-up is December 17, 2025. The Competition will be on January 22, 2026 at the WCMS Middle Campus. The Competition Manager is Mrs. Fernandez.
5. Pajama Day & Minimum Day (TK-8) - Friday, December 19
Let’s celebrate the last day of school before the winter holiday break with Pajama Day at both of our campuses! Students are encouraged to wear their comfiest PJs, most festive onesies, or coziest sleepwear to school, if they would like (regular school uniforms are also fine!). No slippers, please, and for our youngest students, especially, please make sure they are able to easily get in and out of their pajamas to use the restroom. Additionally, all grades TK-8 will follow the minimum day schedule on Friday, 12/19.
6. StudioFive10 Toy Giveaway & Cal Men's Basketball Game - Sunday, December 21
StudioFive10 will be hosting a Christmas Toy Giveaway at the Cal Alumni Association (1 Alumni House, Berkeley, CA 94720) on Sunday, December 21st. They are also offering FREE admission to the Cal Men’s Basketball Game on December 21st at 2:00 pm against the Columbia Lions at Haas Pavilion (115 Haas Pavilion, Berkeley, CA 94720). Families MUST attend the Cal Men’s Basketball Game in order to receive a toy. RSVP Required to Attend! Please see the attached flyer and more details can be found here.
7. Support Our 8th Graders!
The 8th graders are fundraising for a field trip to the Santa Cruz Mountains by selling WCMS IB blankets! Students will do a full day of activities and adventures emphasizing team collaboration, communication, and environmental stewardship. 100% of the funds raised will go towards making their last year with WCMS memorable, educational, and fun! Blankets are 50" x 60" and are made of soft micro-plush (300GSM medium weight blanket), proudly made in the USA, and will arrive in late January. These unique WCMS blankets are $30 each. WCMS has been invited by the City of Pinole to decorate a holiday tree to show our school spirit. The tree will be on display at the Community Corner of San Pablo Ave. and Tennent Ave. for the holidays. We will need parent volunteers to check on the tree during December after school and over the holiday break, and replace ornaments as needed. The times for volunteers to check on the tree are flexible--volunteers can go anytime to check on the tree. Sign-up here. Thank you!

- Elementary Drop-off and Pick-up - We are looking for morning volunteers and afternoon volunteers to help with drop-off and pick-up at the elementary site.

10. Reminders
- Traffic Reminder: there is no left turn into the school from Mann Drive during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. Instead of turning onto Mann Drive from Appian Way, please take Marlesta Road to help with the flow of traffic. (see map for refresher)
- Lost and Found: The school’s lost and found is overflowing! If your child has lost something at school, have your child check it for any missing items, or come check it yourself after school! The school will be clearing out the Lost and Found every month or so, rather than waiting until a school break.
- Join the PTA: Please consider joining if you have not already done so! Your membership helps support programming and experiences for our school. Yearly membership is $16 per person–click here to pay online.
