1. Fall Fundraising Match Challenge - Ends Today!

Thank you to all of the families who have donated so far this year. Today (Friday, 12/13) is the last day for our Fall Match Challenge. Our amazing WCMS teachers and staff have pitched in to add to our PTA Executive Board match amount, increasing our total matching to $10,000!! Donate now, and your contribution will be doubled! We still have over $85,000 left to raise before we meet our goal, so please contribute if you can. We need to raise at least $145,000 a year (approximately $500 per student) to fund our school’s programs, which include PE, music, STEM, mindfulness, restorative justice, and more. Don’t let these programs get cut! Your gift of any amount will help make sure that our children continue to receive all of the elements of a well-rounded education.

2. Habit Burger & Grill Dine-In/Dine-Out Fundraiser 12/16

Join the WCMS PTA at the Habit Burger & Grill in Pinole on Monday, December 16, from 4:00-9:00 PM for a Dine-In/Dine-Out Fundraiser! Place your order in-restaurant, on the mobile app, or at https://order.habitburger.com, using the code GIVEBACK, or show this flyer to the cashier. Dine-in and take-out/delivery orders are all eligible. Habit Burger & Grill will donate 20% of net sales from the event back to WCMS.

3. Dave’s Hot Chicken Dine-In/Dine-Out Fundraiser 12/17

Join the WCMS PTA at Dave's Hot Chicken in El Cerrito on Tuesday, December 17, from 4:00-8:00 PM for a Dine-In/Dine-Out Fundraiser! Scan the attached QR code at the register, or use the code GIVE when placing your online order on the mobile app or at https://www.daveshotchicken.com. Dine-in and take-out/delivery orders are all eligible. Dave's Hot Chicken will donate 20% of net sales from the event back to WCMS.

4. Sign Up for Teacher/Staff Appreciation Holiday Tea 12/18

The holidays are coming up--let’s show our teachers and staff our appreciation on Wednesday, December 18 with a Holiday Tea. All teachers and staff from both the elementary school and middle school sites will be coming to the elementary campus for this event in the afternoon. Please see this Konstella post to sign up to bring cooked or purchased food and drink for the event. The quantity does not need to be large, just enough for 4 to 6 people. The food can be dropped off at the elementary school site front office by 1 pm on 12/18. Please label ingredients (allergens, meat, gluten), if possible.

5. Pajama Day & District Minimum Day 12/20

Let’s celebrate the last day of school before the winter holiday break with Pajama Day at both of our campuses! Students are encouraged to wear their comfiest PJs, most festive onesies, or coziest sleepwear to school, if they would like (regular school uniforms are also fine!). No slippers, please, and for our youngest students, especially, please make sure they are able to easily get in and out of their pajamas to use the restroom. Additionally, all grades TK-8 will follow the minimum day schedule on Friday, 12/20.

6. SF Chinese New Year Parade Sign-up Deadline is Today

WCMS has once again been selected to participate in the world famous SF Chinese New Year Parade! The Parade is during the late afternoon to early evening of Saturday, February 15th, 2025 in SF Chinatown. If you would like your child to participate in the parade, the deadline to register is today, Friday, December 13th. There are 50 total spots available for students in grades K-7, and it is first-come, first-served. (Due to the demands of practice sessions and learning choreography, participation is not available for TK students at this time–thank you for your understanding!) If your student is selected, they must participate in practices during lunch time or after school in January and February. 7. Sports Committee Updates

Volleyball: WCMS is participating in the WCCUSD Elementary School Volleyball League for 4th-6th graders. We currently have one team that has begun practicing and is FULL. We have the opportunity to have a second team, but only if we have additional parent volunteer coaches who can assist with practices (Tuesdays at 6pm at Pinole Middle School) and the one day tournament (Sat Feb 1). If you are willing to volunteer, please email both Rochelle Morrissey at rochelle.jones@gmail.com and Lai Saechao at laisaec@yahoo.com. If we have additional parent volunteers, we will post information on how more 4th-6th graders can sign up.

Basketball: Thanks to a parent volunteer, we plan to offer free Saturday morning basketball classes to WCMS students in the new year. Details to come!

8. Sixth-grade Field Trip Chaperones Needed

We are excited to announce that we are planning a study trip for our 6th graders to the Oakland Museum of California on February 26, 2025. This will be with Nina Cao Laoshi, our arts and science teacher. To make this trip a success, we are seeking three parent chaperones and one backup volunteer to assist us. To volunteer, you will need to bring either your old district volunteer badge or the new QR code from Verkada, along with a valid photo ID. If you are available and interested in joining us for this educational adventure, please sign up here on Konstella and add your name and student class. Your support is greatly appreciated! 9. Please Help with Upcoming Enrollment Tours!

We are still in need of parent volunteers to attend upcoming WCMS enrollment tours. These events are for families interested in enrolling in our school, in advance of the district application process. Parent volunteers would help to answer questions from attendees and discuss their experience with WCMS. There are both in-person events and virtual events (6-7 pm). The dates are as follows:

10. Open Volunteer Positions

Note that the new Verkada system is operational again. New and returning volunteers must obtain a QR code via this website. If you have previously applied for a QR code but have not received a response, you may email WCCUSD Associate Superintendent Summer Siegler (ssigler@wccusd.net) or Director of Community Engagement Martine Blake (martine.blake@wccusd.net) for assistance.

Library Volunteers- Volunteers are needed at the elementary campus on Fridays and the middle school campus on Mondays. Please join the Library Committee on Konstella to sign up and stay updated or email the Library Committee at look3434@hotmail.com to sign up.
Elementary Campus Volunteers - The elementary site needs volunteers everyday to help with drop-off and pick-up, as well as recesses and lunch:

Middle School morning office help - The Middle School is looking for one parent volunteer each day, from 7:50-8:30 am, to help with office tasks, such as organizing attendance, taking questions from students and parents, answering phone calls, and updating the announcement board. As the role will require some training, it would be preferable if volunteers are able to come on a recurring/regular basis, rather than signing up for a one-time only shift. Garden Club Volunteers (elementary) - Volunteers are needed during lunch recess to help with garden maintenance, such as weeding, mulching, planting, and art projects. No gardening experience is necessary. Please sign up on Konstella here.
PTA Committees - many of our committees still need volunteers, and some (such as our JEDI and STEAM committees) still need committee chairs. On the Konstella app, click on “Directory” and “Browse Committees” to see available roles. Contact programsvp@wcmspta.org with any questions.
Looking for a Social Media Manager - We are looking for a volunteer to help manage the PTA’s social media feeds, which are used for community building and outreach. If you are interested, please send an email to communicationsvp@wcmspta.org.
Science Fair Champions Needed - The WCMS annual science fair is an opportunity for students at all levels to demonstrate their critical thinking, creativity, and curiosity in a supportive and friendly setting. In order to make this event happen, we need a few parents to help take the lead to coordinate the event in February. Please sign up here on Konstella, or contact the PTA VP of Programs at programsvp@wcmspta.org with questions.

Upload School Photos for the yearbook: Please consider uploading your photos to our Yearbook share drive folder for a chance to be featured in our annual yearbook!
WCMS Spirit Wear: We are excited to announce the launch of our new WCMS Spirit Wear website, where you can find a wide range of WCMS-branded gear for purchase. Proceeds (15% of each purchase) benefit the PTA. 1. 秋季筹款竞赛挑战赛 - 今天结束！
