1. PTA Fourth General Meeting Recap
Thank you to those who were able to join our in-person PTA general meeting! For more information, you can view the slides from the meeting here and view the Agenda here. We approved new events, budget updates, and funding allocations, and reviewed current financials. Key topics included district budget cuts (impacting the IB program), upcoming fundraising efforts (Sport-a-thon), campus transition plans, and the election of the 2026–27 PTA Board. Feel free to contact any of the PTA Executive Board members with questions. If you have any suggestions or comments please click here. Our last general meeting will be on May 21 at 6pm on Zoom.
2. Yearbooks available for Order! Deadline April 20
We're happy to announce that we are now offering pre-orders for the 2025-2026 West County Mandarin School yearbook (https://store.shopyearbook.com/wcms2026). We hope this yearbook encapsulates the best memories and highlights of our wonderful community.
The yearbooks are being sold at cost, and e-book copies are free

Pre-order will be open through April 20. If you order by this deadline, we can get free bulk shipping if we reach the minimum threshold of 50 yearbooks. The Yearbook Committee will announce in-person pickup times as soon as the yearbooks are available.
Picaboo offers the option where families can customize up to 4 pages for $6.95 (e.g. add personal pictures of your student or add a personal message). If you need additional pages, you can add up to 8 more for another $1.50 per page. Customization for the pre-order must also be submitted via the Picaboo webstore (link below) by April 20.
If you are interested in having a printed yearbook but need financial assistance, please reach out to Dr. Peterson (epeterson@wccusd.net) by April 13.
If you are interested in donating a yearbook, you can do so at checkout. If you want to make a smaller donation to help a family purchase a yearbook, you can Venmo @Sonja-Mah or Zelle Sonja Mah; both accounts are linked to 510-334-7488; please add a note indicating "yearbook donation." Any excess funds will be forwarded to the PTA.

3. Boba Sale Afterschool
Craving something sweet after school? We’ve got you covered! The 5th Grade Field Trip Fundraising Committee is hosting a 🧋Boba Sale🧋 on Friday, March 20th from 2:00–3:00 PM after school! Grab a cup of delicious, refreshing boba and help support next year’s 5th grade science overnight trip. Every sip helps our students get one step closer to an unforgettable adventure! Come treat yourself, bring a friend, and support a great cause. Can't make it? We'll be fundraising on these dates too: 3/24, 4/2, and 4/14.
4. Future Career Day 3/26
Get ready for Future Career Day on March 26! Students at both WCMS campuses are invited to show off their dreams by dressing up as their future career. Whether it’s a doctor, artist, engineer, or anything in between, we can’t wait to see their creativity and ambition shine! Students are also welcome to wear their regular school uniform if they prefer. We’re excited to celebrate the wide range of goals and passions across our school community!
5. Minimum Day (MIDDLE SCHOOL ONLY) - 3/26
On Thursday, March 26, the Middle School only is on a Minimum Day schedule.
6. No school (TK-8) - 3/27
There is no school on Friday, March 27, at both campuses, as it is a district reserve day.
BASKETBALL: WCMS Basketball is still open to all kids in grades 2-8. We are especially looking for a few more 3rd and 4th grade boys to fill out a team for upcoming tournaments. Please join by coming to practices:
- 2nd-4th graders: Mondays 6-7pm at Soskin gym
- 5th-8th graders: Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-7pm at Soskin gym
- There are also sometimes Friday practices depending on the tournament schedule.
8. Open Volunteer Positions
We welcome parent and caregiver volunteers! If you’d like to help in classrooms, at events, or on campus, please complete the district’s volunteer clearance process.
Important: Old volunteer badges are no longer valid.

• Submit a Volunteer Application through Verkada
• Provide proof of a cleared TB test or TB risk assessment to the school front office
• Once approved, you will receive an email with a QR code to show/scan at the main office when volunteering
- PTA Committees - many of our committees still need volunteers, and some (such as our JEDI, ART, STEAM committees) still need committee chairs. On the Konstella app, click on “Directory” and “Browse Committees” to see available roles. You may also contact programsvp@wcmspta.org with any questions.
- Elementary Drop-off and Pick-up - We are looking for morning volunteers and afternoon volunteers to help with drop-off and pick-up at the elementary site.
- Elementary recess/lunch - We are looking for morning lunch and recess volunteers to help at the elementary site.
9. Reminders
- Lost and Found: The school’s lost and found is overflowing! If your child has lost something at school, have your child check it for any missing items, or come check it yourself after school! The school will be clearing out the Lost and Found every month or so, rather than waiting until a school break.
- Join the PTA: Please consider joining if you have not already done so! Your membership helps support programming and experiences for our school. Yearly membership is $16 per person–click here to pay online.
- Spirit Wear Sales: Looking to buy some WCMS gear? Visit our Spirit Wear Website.
- Volunteer: Apply at each school site(s) where you wish to volunteer and provide evidence of a cleared TB screening to the front office. Please check the district website for school site-specific volunteer links. Here is the link to reapply. Then email the front office at westcountymandarin@wccusd.net to submit your documentation.
