1. WCMS Spring Sport-a-Thon Fundraiser
The WCMS Spring Sport-a-Thon is a fun day of sports stations where students test their strength, balance, speed, and coordination.
April 16 – Elementary Campus (TK-5), Volunteer here
April 17 – Middle Campus (6-8), Volunteer here
Our goal is $95,000 ($170 per student) to support programs like science, PE, field trips, music, mindfulness, and classroom supplies. With expected district cuts, your support is more important than ever. As of March 25, we raised almost $4,500, we're 4.6% of the way there!

2. Join the Grants Committee!
We’re looking for volunteers to join our Grants Committee and help bring valuable resources to our school community! Whether you have grant writing experience or simply want to support, we’d love to have you! We especially welcome those with budgeting or project management experience, as these skills are key to developing strong grant proposals. Even helping with just one proposal can make a meaningful impact for our students and staff. Come be part of the team that helps bring more opportunities and enrichment to WCMS!
3. Celebrating Our Student Artists – Art Show Update
Thank you very much for your support of the 60th Annual WCCUSD Student Art Show and for supporting our WCMS student artists. Your encouragement means a great deal to our students and to our school community.
Two of our middle school students, Eli Diamond and Marlene Hernandez-Diaz, have been selected for the 60th Annual WCCUSD Student Art Show, and their artwork will be exhibited at the Richmond Art Center. This is a very exciting opportunity, and we would love for more families in our community to see and celebrate their achievements.
The exhibition will run from April 8 to May 16, 2026, and more details can be found in the attached flyer.
Unfortunately, the elementary school artwork CANNOT be included in this year’s exhibition. However, the Contra Costa County Office of Education (CCCOE) is very excited about exhibiting our elementary students’ artwork.
How to view artwork at the CCCOE:
- The address is 77 Santa Barbara Rd, Pleasant Hill, CA
- Visitors will be able to see the artwork. They have three floors in one main building. To go upstairs or downstairs, visitors will need to sign in, and have the receptionist buzz them through doors to reach the other levels, as they have badge access.

4. Community Budget Listening Session - 4/14
Members of the WCMS community are invited to attend a Community Budget Listening Session where they will receive information about how the WCMS PTA budget could look in 2026-2027 to support our school in light of District budget cuts and the upcoming school site consolidation. After the presentation, we will have an open conversation about priorities and how we can make the best use of our resources for the coming school year.

5. Save the Date: WCMS Elementary Open House 4/23

6. Yearbooks available for Order! Deadline April 20
We're happy to announce that we are now offering pre-orders for the 2025-2026 West County Mandarin School yearbook (https://store.shopyearbook.com/wcms2026). We hope this yearbook encapsulates the best memories and highlights of our wonderful community.

Pre-order will be open through April 20. If you order by this deadline, we can get free bulk shipping if we reach the minimum threshold of 50 yearbooks. The Yearbook Committee will announce in-person pickup times as soon as the yearbooks are available.
Picaboo offers the option where families can customize up to 4 pages for $6.95 (e.g. add personal pictures of your student or add a personal message). If you need additional pages, you can add up to 8 more for another $1.50 per page. Customization for the pre-order must also be submitted via the Picaboo webstore (link below) by April 20.
If you are interested in having a printed yearbook but need financial assistance, please reach out to Dr. Peterson (epeterson@wccusd.net) by April 13.
If you are interested in donating a yearbook, you can do so at checkout. 7. Boba Sale Afterschool
The 5th Grade Field Trip Fundraising Committee is hosting a 🧋Boba Sale🧋 on Thursday, April 2nd from 2:00–3:00 PM after school! Grab a cup of delicious, refreshing boba and help support next year’s 5th grade science overnight trip. Bring a cup and save a buck.
SOCCER: WCMS will once again be participating in the WCCUSD Elementary School Soccer League for 4th-6th graders! Practices will be twice a week from April 20-May 29, followed by a one-day tournament on Saturday, May 30. We are grateful to parent coach Armando Paz for once again volunteering but more help is needed. 3. Celebrando a nuestros estudiantes artistas: Actualización de la Exposición de Arte
