1. Chuck E. Cheese Fundraiser 4/18
Join us for a FUNtastic Fri-Yay at Chuck E. Cheese in Pinole (1470 Fitzgerald Dr., Pinole, CA 94564), on Friday, 4/18 after the Sport-a-Thon, from 3 PM to 9 PM! All friends and families are welcome! Mention 'WCMS' when ordering, and Chuck E. Cheese will generously donate 20% of all event sales to our PTA. Sales include all food and merchandise purchased at the registers. Please purchase tokens at the counter in order for it to be credited to us.Please remember to bring the coupon flyer (see the attachment). We look forward to a fantastic evening of fun and support for our PTA. See you there!

2. Yearbooks available for Order! Deadline 4/21
We're happy to announce that we are now offering pre-orders for the 2024-2025 West County Mandarin School yearbook (https://store.shopyearbook.com/wcms2025) We hope this yearbook encapsulates the best memories and highlights of our wonderful community. The yearbooks are being sold at cost, and e-book copies are free.

Pre-order will be open through April 21. If you order by this deadline, we can get free bulk shipping if we reach the minimum threshold of 75 yearbooks. The PTA will be setting up some time to distribute these to families when they come in. Picaboo offers the option where families can customize up to 4 pages for $8.95 (e.g. add personal pictures of your student or add a personal message). If you need additional pages, you can add up to 8 more for another $1.50 per page. Customization for the pre-order must also be submitted via the Picaboo webstore by April 21. If you are interested in having a printed yearbook but need financial assistance, please reach out to Dr. Peterson (epeterson@wccusd.net). If you have questions, feel free to reach out to yearbook@wcmspta.org.

3. WCMS 5th Grade Leadership Club Hosts a Fun Food Drive starting next week!
Our 5th grade students are partnering with the Contra Costa and Solano Food Bank for a Food Drive from April 21st to May 2nd! Help teach the importance of giving by involving your children and making a real difference in our community.  Check the attached flyer for the list of preferred items. Drop off donations with Ms. Mayra or Roxanna at the front office and please write your grade on your bag so that it will be credited correctly. Our goal is 400 items. No glass items, please, and check expiration dates. The grade with the most donations wins a pizza party sponsored by our school staff! Thank you for your support! 🍕🍕🍕

4. Volunteer for Cooking Demonstration 4/25
The Garden Club is excited to host another cooking demonstration for our elementary school students! This optional activity will take place during lunch recess. We need volunteers to help set up and clean up the event, as well as supervise the students. Volunteer badges are not necessary, but please sign in at the front office and get a volunteer sticker. It is helpful even if you can only come for part of the time. Sign up on Konstella here.

5. STEM + Families Science Festival Night 5/1
Save the date for our annual STEM + Families event, which will be held on Thursday, May 1, from 5:00-7:30 pm at the WCMS elementary campus MPR. We will have several fun stations for students to learning about science, math, and engineering through hands-on activities, in collaboration with the Richmond Fab Lab! More details will be forthcoming on Konstella soon.

6. Boba & Bake Sale Friday Fundraisers
Join the current 6th grade classes for a series of Friday after school fundraisers at Pinole Middle School to support the 7th grade China study trip for 2026! Enjoy Friday boba with both milk tea and chocolate milk, plus light snacks, such as pizza (cheese, pepperoni), chips, and baked goods. It’s a great opportunity to have a tasty after school treat as spring arrives. Bring cash and an empty stomach, and help support our students! Boba & Bake Sale Fridays will be held on the following dates at the Pinole Middle School (WCMS elementary) campus: 4/25, 5/9, 5/16.

7. Open Volunteer Positions
Note that the new Verkada system is operational. New and returning volunteers must obtain a QR code via this website. If you have previously applied for a QR code but have not received a response, you may email WCCUSD Associate Superintendent Summer Siegler (ssigler@wccusd.net) or Director of Community Engagement Martine Blake (martine.blake@wccusd.net) for assistance.

  • Upload School Photos for the yearbook: Please consider uploading your photos to our Yearbook share drive folder for a chance to be featured in our annual yearbook! 
  • WCMS Spirit Wear: Visit our new WCMS Spirit Wear website, where you can find a wide range of WCMS-branded gear for purchase. Proceeds (15% of each purchase) benefit the PTA.
