2. Recap: Last PTA General Meeting of the Year
Thanks to those who were able to join the general PTA meeting this week! We reviewed all of the wonderful events and activities that the PTA helped support over this last year and welcomed next year’s Executive Board. We are so grateful to the WCMS community for donating over 6400 hours of volunteer time this year in service of the school! The slides from the meeting are available to review here. Looking forward to seeing you all again when PTA meetings resume in the fall for the 2025-2026 school year!

3. Fifth Grade Presentations and Advancement Ceremony
The 5th grade presentations and advancement ceremony will be Thursday, May 29th from 12:30-2pm in the MPR. Also, the 5th grade class will be celebrating the end of their elementary school years with a party with food, games, and music.  Our theme is sports - please wear your favorite sports team gear! The party will be on Friday, May 30th from 5:30-8 pm in the MPR, for 5th graders only.  Please return your RSVP form to the teachers by Thursday, 5/22. As there are no funds from the school for the party, instead of selling tickets, the 5th grade Leadership Club is asking every parent with a student planning to attend to contribute by bringing food, donating supplies, or volunteering at the event, so that no one will be turned away. Please sign up on the spreadsheet on Konstella. 

4. LLS After School Program Updates
The Love Learn Success Aftercare program invites parents/guardians of students in the after school program to our end of the year showcase and potluck (family event) on Wednesday, June 4, from 4:30-6:00 pm in the elementary campus MPR. More information and the program with the times for each grade will be available on Konstella. Additionally, the Love Learn Success Aftercare program will be holding a Last Day of School Fun Day on Wednesday, June 11, from 12:00-5:00 pm! The Fun Day is only for students; families do not need to attend. Students will be taken to the event by the after school program after the early dismissal at noon. There will be a Ballet Folklorico performance and tacos. LLS will still be open until 6:00 pm, after the Fun Day activities conclude. Please contact Ms. Rodriguez or Mr. Brandon with any questions.

5. Yearbook Online Store
If you forgot to pre-order a yearbook or changed your mind and decided you would like to purchase a yearbook, the on-line store will remain open until the end of the summer. You will have to pay for shipping and handling, but it will ship directly to your house. Please visit https://store.shopyearbook.com/wcms2025.

6. Check Your Yearbook Type
Please review your order and check if you received a softcover, but actually ordered a hardcover. Please reach out to yearbook@wcmspta.org as soon as possible. You can check the list on Konstella, which is sorted by student's last name.

7. Dine-out Fundraiser at D'Grobak 6/6
Catch Indonesian street food pop-up D’Grobak at the Gilman Wine Block Party at Donkey and Goat Winery on Friday, 6/6 from 3-8 pm (1340 Fifth St., Berkeley, CA 94710), and 15% of profits will be donated back to WCMS!

8. Boba & Bake Sale Friday Fundraisers
Join the current 6th grade classes for the final Friday after school fundraiser on 6/6 at the elementary campus (Pinole Middle School) to support the 7th grade China study trip for 2026! Enjoy Friday boba with both milk tea and chocolate milk, plus light snacks. It’s a great opportunity to have a tasty after school treat as spring arrives. Bring cash and an empty stomach, and help support our students! 

9. Open Volunteer Positions
Note that the new Verkada system is operational. New and returning volunteers must obtain a QR code via this website. If you have previously applied for a QR code but have not received a response, you may email WCCUSD Associate Superintendent Summer Siegler (ssigler@wccusd.net) or Director of Community Engagement Martine Blake (martine.blake@wccusd.net) for assistance.

10. Reminders

  • WCMS Spirit Wear: Visit our new WCMS Spirit Wear website, where you can find a wide range of WCMS-branded gear for purchase. Proceeds (15% of each purchase) benefit the PTA.

2. Resumen: Última reunión general de la PTA del año
¡Gracias a quienes pudieron asistir a la reunión general de la PTA esta semana! Repasamos todos los maravillosos eventos y actividades que la PTA apoyó durante el último año y dimos la bienvenida a la Junta Directiva del próximo año. Estamos muy agradecidos con la comunidad de WCMS por donar más de 6400 horas de voluntariado este año al servicio de la escuela. 3. Presentaciones de quinto grado y ceremonia de ascenso
Las presentaciones y la ceremonia de ascenso de 5.º grado se llevarán a cabo el jueves 29 de mayo de 12:30 a 14:00 h en el salón multiusos (MPR). Además, los alumnos de 5.º grado celebrarán el fin de sus años de primaria con una fiesta con comida, juegos y música. Nuestro tema es el deporte: ¡vístanse con la ropa de su equipo deportivo favorito! La fiesta será el viernes 30 de mayo de 17:30 a 20:00 h en el MPR, solo para alumnos de 5.º grado. Por favor, devuelvan su formulario de confirmación de asistencia a los maestros antes del jueves 22 de mayo. Como la escuela no cuenta con fondos para la fiesta, en lugar de vender entradas, el Club de Liderazgo de 5.º grado les pide a todos los padres con hijos que planean asistir que contribuyan trayendo comida, donando útiles escolares o siendo voluntarios en el evento, para que nadie se quede sin clases.
