1. Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week 5/4 - 5/8
Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week is May 4–8, and this is our chance to show gratitude for the amazing people who keep our kids safe, supported, and learning every day. We have several optional, fun ways for families to participate—join in for one day or all week! 

Join us today, Friday 5/1 and/or Saturday 5/2 to decorate classroom doors and create banners to surprise our teachers and staff. 

Wednesday 5/6 – We’re hosting an Appreciation Luncheon. Please sign up to bring an item or help with set-up and clean-up.

2. Chuck E. Cheese Fundraiser 5/8
Join us for a FUNtastic Fri-Yay at Chuck E. Cheese, Pinole (1470 Fitzgerald Dr, Pinole), on Friday, 5/8, from 11 AM to 10 PM! All friends and families are welcome! Mention 'WCMS' when making a purchase at the counter (tokens, food, merchandise), and Chuck E. Cheese will generously donate 20% of all event sales to our PTA! Please see this Konstella post for a printable coupon flyer to bring to the event to ensure your purchase counts toward the fundraiser.  Delivery and carry-out orders placed directly at ChuckECheese.com now also apply towards your fundraiser. You must add the item “School or Organization Fundraiser” to your cart before check-out and order from the Pinole location.

3. Volunteers Needed: STEM Night Station Hosts
Join us for an evening of hands-on discovery at our annual STEM Night on Thursday, May 28, from 5:30–7:30 PM at the WCMS Elementary Campus MPR. We’re teaming up with the Richmond Fab Lab to bring students exciting stations filled with science, math, and engineering fun! We need volunteers to help run the stations.  Please sign up to host station. All materials and instructions will be provided. We also need help with set-up and clean-up.  Want to design a new activity station? Reach out to Pier LeBlanc at president@wcmspta.org to get involved. 

4. Call for PARTICIPANTS:  BATTLE OF THE BEANS!
The WCMS Garden Committee invites you to show off your cooking skills and earn bragging rights (plus a cool prize!) in our first WCMS Garden cooking competition on Saturday, May 16th from 11am-1pm during the garden work party. Click here to sign up. Use your imagination! The only requirement is that beans or legumes are the main focus of the dish. You will demonstrate some of your cooking or prep process to the community as part of the competition. Ingredients will be reimbursed up to $75 and recipes must be provided to the public. Teams can be made of any combo of kids and adults. Contact debbie@growingtogetherprojects.org with any questions.

5. Yearbooks available for Order!
If you missed the pre-order sales, the 2025-2026 West County Mandarin School yearbook (https://store.shopyearbook.com/wcms2026) will remain open until the end of summer and ship direct to your home. We hope this yearbook encapsulates the best memories and highlights of our wonderful community.

The yearbooks are being sold at cost, and e-book copies are free.

6. Campus Transition Team Update
The Campus Transition Team toured the Soskin campus with the District earlier this week.  Photos from the tour can be viewed here.  Construction is expected to begin after July 4, and the campus should be ready for the first day (though not perfect yet). The current bell schedule will likely stay the same, with separate TK/K drop-off and continued separation between elementary and middle school areas. Families are encouraged to stay engaged as we will need help packing up and unpacking and with classroom setup before the school year. More coordinated updates and volunteer opportunities to come. Thank you for staying engaged. 

7. WCMS Summer Program - Interest Form
WCMS is planning to offer the Summer Mandarin Enrichment Program again this summer with partner Love Learn Success. The program is expected to be fee-based due to the lack of district funding at this time. If you are interested, please complete the interest form:

8. Fifth General PTA Meeting - Thursday, 5/21
Our fifth PTA General Meeting is coming up on Thursday, May 21, starting at 6 PM on Zoom (https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83612710422?pwd=UYUVXyabJJZiYjRrcRxmdDcscaAasL.1). Plan on joining for updates on our Spring Fundraising Campaign, budget, upcoming events, and more. We will also be reviewing and voting on proposed amendments to the bylaws. 9. Boba Sale Afterschool
The 5th Grade Field Trip Fundraising Committee is hosting a 🧋Boba Sale🧋 on  today, 5/1 from 2:00–3:00 PM after school! Grab a cup of delicious, refreshing boba and help support next year’s 5th grade science overnight trip. Bring a cup and save a buck.  Details on their pop-up schedule here.

6. 校园过渡团队最新进展
本周早些时候，校园过渡团队与学区一起参观了索斯金校区。参观照片可在此处查看。施工预计将于 7 月 4 日之后开始，校园将在开学第一天准备就绪（尽管目前可能还不完美）。目前的作息时间表可能保持不变，幼儿园小班/中班将单独接送，小学和初中区域也将继续分开。我们鼓励各位家长保持关注，因为在开学前我们需要大家的帮助进行打包、拆包和教室布置。更多协调一致的最新消息和志愿者机会即将发布。感谢您的关注。

7. WCMS 暑期项目 - 意向表：
