1. Welcome from the WCMS PTA Executive Board
The WCMS PTA warmly welcomes all new and returning families for the 2026-2027 school year! We have many exciting activities and memorable experiences planned for our students this trimester. Your support and involvement are key to our success, so please share your ideas and, together, let's make this school year the best one yet!

This is the first of our weekly announcements, which will be sent out on Konstella every weekend with updates, opportunities, and news about school events. Be sure to stay tuned!

2. Volunteers Needed: School Move-in and First Week of School
Please join our dedicated school staff in preparing for the first day of school. We need help from our community to unpack, set up and decorate our classrooms on Saturday (8/15), Sunday (8/16), and Monday (8/17) so they will be ready to welcome our students. Any amount of time you are able to donate is appreciated, and you do not need a volunteer badge for this event, as school is not in session. Please sign up here.

We also need volunteers during the first week of school to help with traffic management during drop-off, recess, mealtimes, and pick-up. Multiple shifts are available! (Note that all volunteers on campus while school is in session must have a WCMS volunteer QR code.) Please click here to sign up on Konstella.

3. Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures
Please review this Konstella Announcement regarding drop-off and pick-up procedures. New families may wish to consider driving by the campus before school begins to familiarize themselves with the route. Your patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated!  

**Morning Drop-off**
TK and Kindergarteners: TK/K students will be received by staff at the TK/K student entrance at the side of the school on Salida Way between 7:45-8:15am. On the first day of school, TK and kindergarten parents/caregivers may walk their child(ren) to the side gate and take a photo. Be reminded that there is no parking in the school lot (families must park on the street).

After Tuesday, August 18th, TK/K parents/caregivers may continue to park on the street and walk their child(ren) to the TK/K student entrance at the side of the school on Salida Way, OR they may briefly park on Salida Way at the drop-off zone just long enough to unbuckle their child(ren) and pass them to a waiting staff member who will guide them to the entry gate. Older siblings of TK/K students may also be dropped off in the TK/K drop-off zone.

Grades 1-8: Students are to be dropped off at the front of the school on Loma Linda Ave. between 7:45-8:15 am. There will be staff guiding students into the school.

**Afternoon Pick Up**
The first day of school (8/18) will be a minimum day; students in grades TK to 3 will be released at 1:30 pm. Grades 4 and 5 will be released at 1:50pm. Grades 6 to 8 will be released at 1:40 pm. TK/K students will be dismissed at the TK/K gate on Salida Way and Grades 1-8 will be dismissed at the front of the school/main gate on Loma Linda Ave. All students must be picked up within 15 minutes of their release unless they are in the after school program with LLS (grade TK to 3 students who have an older sibling in grade 4-5 may wait for their older sibling to be released).

We ask that parents have their students’ names and class visible on a paper sign for staff to see during pick-up time. (Sample) 

TK/K: Students will be waiting for pick-up inside the fence by the gate at the side of the school on Salida Way.

Grade 1-8: All students will be waiting inside the gated courtyard in the front of the school on Loma Linda Ave.
4. Donations from Supply List and Supply Drop Off instructions
Your generosity is appreciated in donating school supplies that will benefit all students at West County Mandarin School. All donations are voluntary and optional–thank you for your support!

Below are the available methods to deliver your donations to the school:

  • Online Purchase and Shipping: You can make your donations online and have them shipped directly to the school office. The address for the office is: West County Mandarin School, 1121 Allview Ave. El Sobrante, CA 94803
  • On-site Drop-off: During the first day of school, we will have a volunteer table set up by the PTA to collect school supplies. Please drop off your donations in the morning. 
  • Physical Gift Cards: If you prefer to donate physical gift cards, kindly drop them off at the school office.

The school has also created a Schoolwide Supply Wishlist of optional items that families can donate to the school (in any quantity) for shared use.

5. Join the PTA or Renew Your Membership for 2026-2027
Our PTA's strength lies in its collective effort, and your involvement has a significant impact on our children's education and school experience! See the attached flyer to learn about what our PTA does and the programs and activities we support, or CLICK HERE to join/renew your PTA membership!

6. How to Become a Volunteer
The District requires that all volunteers, including parents, complete an application before they can volunteer. To learn more about how to become a Volunteer at WCMS, please check out this Konstella post. If you are interested in volunteering, please apply online.  Volunteer opportunities are posted on Konstella or communicated directly by your student's teachers. There are many volunteer opportunities before, after, and during school.

We are actively looking to fill these volunteer roles.

  • Financial Secretary - help the PTA Treasurer count cash/checks received and help prepare the monthly reconciliation by pulling a small number of online reports.  This is an in person at school role that will take one hour, twice a month. 
  • Committee Volunteer - Join and help an existing committee at school with their planning, events, and initiatives.  Some committees need a new chair!  If it’s something you’re interested in, feel free to jump right in.  

7. Bell Schedule and Calendar
The student bell schedule for WCMS elementary students is the same as last school year: 8:15am to 2:05pm for grades TK-3 and 8:15am to 2:25pm for grades 4-5 (Wednesday minimum days are 1:30pm grades K-3/1:50pm grades 4-5). The Middle School Bell Schedule for grades 6-8 is 8:30am to 2:40pm and 8:30 to 1:40pm on Wednesday minimum days. Middle school students can also sign up for the optional zero period. Sign up info and more details for the Zero Period will be on the Middle School Newsletter.

8. School Meal Menu

9. Dine-outs and Fundraisers

  • RaiseRight Gift Card Fundraiser: Make your gift card purchases (AirBNB, Home Depot, Target, Amazon, etc) on RaiseRight and 1-10% of the value is donated to our PTA. Visit RaiseRight to sign up. (Code: NW8B8F8U8J93)
  • Panda Express Dine-out (8/27): Support our school by placing an online order for pickup or delivery at any Panda Express location nationwide on Thursday, August 27. Forward the link to friends and family, as orders can be placed at any of the over 2000 Panda Express restaurants in the United States, and 28% of all sales will be donated to our PTA!

1. Bienvenida de la Junta Directiva de la PTA de WCMS
¡La PTA de WCMS les da una cálida bienvenida a todas las familias, tanto nuevas como antiguas, para el ciclo escolar 2026-2027! Preescolar y Jardín de Infantes: Los alumnos de Preescolar y Jardín de Infantes serán recibidos por el personal en la entrada para alumnos de Preescolar y Jardín de Infantes, ubicada al costado de la escuela en Salida Way, entre las 7:45 y las 8:15 a. m. El primer día de clases, los padres o tutores de Preescolar y Jardín de Infantes pueden acompañar a sus hijos hasta la puerta lateral y tomarles una foto. Recuerden que no hay estacionamiento en el estacionamiento de la escuela (las familias deben estacionar en la calle).

Después del martes 18 de agosto, los padres o tutores de los alumnos de preescolar (TK/K) podrán seguir estacionando en la calle y acompañar a sus hijos hasta la entrada de estudiantes de preescolar (TK/K) ubicada al costado de la escuela en Salida Way. También podrán estacionar brevemente en Salida Way, en la zona de descenso, el tiempo suficiente para desabrocharles el cinturón y entregárselos a un miembro del personal que los guiará hasta la puerta de entrada. Los hermanos mayores de los alumnos de preescolar (TK/K) también podrán ser dejados en la zona de descenso.

Para alumnos de 1.º a 8.º grado: Los estudiantes deberán ser dejados en la entrada principal de la escuela, en la avenida Loma Linda, entre las 7:45 y las 8:15 de la mañana. Habrá personal que los acompañará al interior del edificio.

Los grados 6 a 8 saldrán a la 1:40 p. m. Los estudiantes de TK/K saldrán por la puerta de TK/K en Salida Way y los grados 1 a 8 saldrán por la entrada principal de la escuela en Loma Linda Ave.  Todos los estudiantes deben ser recogidos dentro de los 15 minutos posteriores a su salida, a menos que estén en el programa extracurricular de LLS (los estudiantes de los grados TK a 3 que tengan un hermano mayor en los grados 4 o 5 pueden esperar a que su hermano mayor salga).

**早晨送孩子上学**
学前班和幼儿园小班：学前班/幼儿园小班的学生将于早上7:45至8:15在学校侧面的Salida Way学生入口处由工作人员接待。开学第一天，学前班和幼儿园小班的家长/监护人可以送孩子到侧门拍照。请注意，学校停车场禁止停车（家长需将车辆停放在路边）。

8月18日星期二之后，TK/K班的家长/监护人可以继续将车停在路边，然后步行送孩子到位于学校侧面萨利达路（Salida Way）的TK/K学生入口；或者，他们可以将车短暂停在萨利达路的下客区，以便解开孩子的安全带，然后将孩子交给等候的工作人员，工作人员会引导他们前往入口。TK/K班学生的哥哥姐姐也可以在TK/K下客区下车。

6.如何成为志愿者
学区要求所有志愿者（包括家长）在正式成为志愿者之前都必须填写申请表。如需了解更多关于如何在WCMS成为志愿者的信息，请查看Konstella上的这篇文章。如果您有兴趣成为志愿者，请在线申请。志愿者机会会在Konstella上发布，或由您孩子的老师直接告知。课前、课后和课中都有许多志愿者机会。

我们正在积极寻找志愿者来填补这些职位空缺。

  • 财务秘书——协助家长教师协会财务主管清点收到的现金/支票，并通过提取少量在线报表协助准备月度对账单。此职位需到校工作，每月两次，每次一小时。 
  • 委员会志愿者——加入学校现有的委员会，协助他们进行规划、活动和各项工作。有些委员会需要新的主席！如果您对此感兴趣，欢迎立即加入。  

7. 作息时间表和校历
WCMS小学学生的作息时间表与上学年相同：幼儿园至三年级为上午8:15至下午2:05，四至五年级为上午8:15至下午2:25（周三半天，幼儿园至三年级下午1:30，四至五年级下午1:50）。六至八年级中学的作息时间表为上午8:30至下午2:40，周三半天为上午8:30至下午1:40。中学学生还可以选择参加“零时课”（zero period）。“零时课”的报名信息和更多详情将在中学通讯中公布。2026-2027
