1. Room Parent sign-ups
As we kick off a new school year, we’re looking for 2 parents/caregivers per classroom to volunteer as Room Parents! Being a Room Parent is a great way to stay connected, support your child’s teacher, and help build a strong classroom community. You do not need to volunteer in the classroom. Teachers will reach out to Room Parents when they need help communicating with families or organizing classroom events. Room Parents will simply help share important information with classroom families, coordinate requests, and help make classroom activities and celebrations run smoothly. Interested in helping your child’s classroom? Please consider signing up to be a Room Parent! Your support makes a big difference!

2. Annual Educational Benefit Forms
Parents and Guardians - Please be sure to take a couple of minutes to fill out your student(s)’ annual forms on Powerschool. Please be sure to fill one out for each child. This will ensure that our school gets accurate funding from the State in order to keep WCMS a great place to learn. Regardless of income, all completed forms benefit our students.

3. Volunteers needed for Drop-off/Pick-up/Snack/Lunch/Recess
Thank you so much to everyone who has volunteered their time to make the start of the school year such a success! As the school year goes on, your continued help is deeply appreciated. Please sign up if you are available to help with morning and lunch recess, morning drop-offs/afternoon pick-ups:

4. Updated Supply Donation Request
If you would still like to donate supplies, please use this one time wish list for start of school 2026-2027. It has the precise brand and amounts that would be appreciated.

If the list is empty, that means all the requested items have been fulfilled for the start of the year. If you'd still like to donate physical items, the school can always use tissues, wet (baby) wipes, and sanitizing (Clorox) wipes. Thanks to everyone who has donated and volunteered to help fully stock our school supplies closet!

5. Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures
Please review this Konstella Announcement regarding drop-off and pick-up procedures. Your patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated!  

**Morning Drop-off**
TK/K: TK/K students will be received by staff at the fenced TK/K playground accessed from the school gate on Salida Way between 7:45-8:15am. Parents enter the through the gate and follow the walkway to the playground. Please immediately exit the gate to Salida Way after dropping off your students at the playground.

Grades 1-8: Students are to be dropped off at the front of the school on Loma Linda Ave. between 7:45-8:15 am. There will be staff guiding students into the school.

**Afternoon Pick Up**
TK/K students will be dismissed at the TK/K gate on Salida Way and Grades 1-8 will be dismissed at the front of the school/main gate on Loma Linda Ave. All students must be picked up within 15 minutes of their release unless they are in the after school program with LLS (grade TK to 3 students who have an older sibling in grade 4-5 may wait for their older sibling to be released).

We ask that parents have their students’ names and class visible on a paper sign for staff to see during pick-up time. (Sample)

TK/K: Students will be waiting for pick-up inside the fence of the playground accessed from the gate at the side of the school on Salida Way. Please immediately exit the gate to Salida Way after picking up your students at the playground.

Grade 1-8: All students will be waiting inside the gated courtyard in the front of the school on Loma Linda Ave.
6. Save the Date: Volunteer Orientation 9/9
Join the West County Mandarin School PTA for a volunteer orientation on September 9, from 6–7pm to learn how to become a volunteer, volunteer opportunities, what to expect, and best practices for supporting our classrooms, events, and campus. The session will be hosted virtually via Zoom and recorded for families to watch at their convenience. We look forward to welcoming you and strengthening our school community together! Zoom link to follow. 

7. Save the Date: Back-to-School Night, 9/10
Back-to-School Night is on the evening of Thursday, September 10. This will be a great opportunity to meet your child’s teachers, see their classrooms, and hear from our principal, Dr. Peterson. Due to space limitations, the Back to School Night presentations inside the classrooms are intended only for parents/caregivers. More details to follow. Food and snacks will be available for purchase to support the 7th Grade Fundraiser for the China trip in the Spring.

8. Sports Committee Surveys
Flag Football for 4th-6th graders: Thanks to parent volunteers, WCMS will again participate in the WCCUSD Elementary School Flag Football League, starting week of September 7th.  This will consist of weekly practices, a midpoint scrimmage, and a one-day tournament on Saturday, October 17.  If you would like to sign your child up or are willing to help coach, please fill out this survey: https://forms.gle/AGheobmt5sSaDEdT8

Volleyball for 4th-8th graders: We have the opportunity for WCMS to again participate in the WCCUSD Elementary School Volleyball League (4th-6th graders) this year.  We also will hopefully be able to participate in the WCCUSD Middle School Volleyball League (7th-8th graders).  Both leagues will run early October to early December.  We can only participate if we have parent volunteers!  To learn more and sign up to help, please fill out this survey: https://forms.gle/QB8GYG5VJr3TGfsV9

9. Kung Fu After School Enrichment Class Survey
Master Ben is working on getting approval from the district for the Kung Fu program. He will announce the start date as soon as possible and send out enrollment forms once everything is approved. Depending on interest, he is considering offering new classes specifically for middle school students (6th–8th grade) and/or students at the upper belt levels. If your student might be interested in either of these options, please complete the survey by August 31: Interest Survey

10. Join a Konstella Committee
WCMS has many different fun and engaging committees to join. There are opportunities to fit a variety of schedules and interests. On the Konstella app, click on “Directory” and “Browse Committees” to see available roles. You may also contact programsvp@wcmspta.org with any questions. Please consider joining as a committee member, or share your expertise by taking on a committee lead role! We are actively looking to fill these volunteer roles.

  • Financial Secretary - help the PTA Treasurer count cash/checks received and help prepare the monthly reconciliation by pulling a small number of online reports.  This is an in person at school role that will take one hour, twice a month. 
  • Committee Volunteer - Join and help an existing committee at school with their planning, events, and initiatives.  Some committees need a new chair!  If it’s something you’re interested in, feel free to jump right in.

1. Inscripciones para Padres de Aula
Al comenzar un nuevo año escolar, ¡buscamos 2 padres/tutores por aula para que se ofrezcan como Padres de Aula!  Ser un Padre de Aula es una excelente manera de mantenerse conectado, apoyar al maestro de su hijo y ayudar a construir una comunidad fuerte en el aula. No es necesario que sea voluntario en el aula. Los maestros se comunicarán con los Padres de Aula cuando necesiten ayuda para comunicarse con las familias u organizar eventos en el aula. Los Padres de Aula simplemente ayudarán a compartir información importante con las familias del aula, coordinar solicitudes y ayudar a que las actividades y celebraciones del aula se desarrollen sin problemas. ¿ Le interesa ayudar en el aula de su hijo? ¡ Considere inscribirse para ser un Padre de Aula! ¡ Su apoyo marca una gran diferencia!

2. Formularios Anuales de Beneficios Educativos

Los padres deben entrar por la puerta y seguir el sendero hasta el patio. Por favor, salgan inmediatamente por la puerta hacia Salida Way después de dejar a sus hijos en el patio.

Para alumnos de 1.º a 8.º grado: Los estudiantes deberán ser dejados en la entrada principal de la escuela, en la avenida Loma Linda, entre las 7:45 y las 8:15 de la mañana. Habrá personal que los acompañará al interior del edificio.

**Recogida por la tarde**

Esta será una gran oportunidad para conocer a los maestros de su hijo, ver sus aulas y escuchar a nuestro director, el Dr. Peterson. 1. 班级家长志愿者招募
新学年伊始，我们诚邀每班两位家长/监护人担任班级家长志愿者！ 成为班级家长志愿者不仅能让您与孩子保持联系，还能支持孩子的老师，并帮助建立良好的班级氛围。您无需参与课堂志愿服务。老师会在需要与家长沟通或组织班级活动时联系班级家长志愿者。班级家长志愿者只需协助与班级家长分享重要信息、协调各项事宜，并确保班级活动和庆祝活动顺利进行即可。如果您有兴趣帮助孩子的班级，请考虑报名成为班级家长志愿者！您的支持至关重要！

2. 年度教育福利表格

早晨送孩子入园
学前班/幼儿园：学前班/幼儿园学生将于早上7:45至8:15之间在萨利达路（Salida Way）校门外的封闭式学前班/幼儿园操场由工作人员接待。家长请从校门进入，沿着人行道前往操场。送孩子到操场后，请立即从校门离开，回到萨利达路。

1-8年级：学生请于早上7:45-8:15之间在洛马琳达大道上的学校正门下车 。届时将有工作人员引导学生进入学校。

**下午接送**
幼儿园小班/中班学生将在 Salida Way 的幼儿园小班/中班校门放学，1-8 年级学生将在 Loma Linda Ave 的学校正门/大门放学。所有学生必须在放学后 15 分钟内被接走，除非他们参加了 LLS 的课后活动（幼儿园小班至 3 年级的学生，如果他们的哥哥姐姐在 4-5 年级，可以等哥哥姐姐放学后再接）。

9. 课后功夫拓展课程调查
本师傅正在努力获得学区对功夫课程的批准。一旦所有审批通过，他将尽快公布开课日期并寄送报名表。根据报名情况，他正在考虑开设 专门针对初中生（6-8年级） 和/或 高段位学员的新课程。如果您的孩子对以上任何一项感兴趣，请在8月31日前完成调查 ： 意向调查。

WCMS有许多有趣且充满活力的委员会供您加入。总有一款适合您的时间安排和兴趣爱好。在Konstella应用程序中，点击“目录”和“浏览委员会”即可查看空缺职位。如有任何疑问，您也可以联系programsvp@wcmspta.org。欢迎您加入委员会成为成员，或者担任委员会领导职务，分享您的专业知识！我们正在积极招募志愿者。

  • 财务秘书——协助家长教师协会财务主管清点收到的现金/支票，并通过提取少量在线报表协助准备月度对账单。此职位需到校工作，每月两次，每次一小时。 
  • 委员会志愿者——加入学校现有的委员会，协助他们进行规划、活动和各项工作。有些委员会需要新的主席！如果您对此感兴趣，欢迎立即加入。
