1. Latin American Independence Day Parade (Fiesta Patrias) - Saturday 9/13

WCMS will be participating in the Fiestas Patrias (Latin American Independence Day Parade) on Saturday, 9/13. All WCMS students and families are welcome to participate. Parade participants should meet between 8:30-9:30 AM on 9/13 in the Richmond Civic Center Parking Lot. For further details, click here.

2. First general PTA meeting - Thursday 9/18 (Virtual)
We are looking forward to convening our first general PTA meeting of the school year on Thursday, 9/18 on ZOOM. This will be a great opportunity to learn more about the programs that the PTA supports, the work that the various PTA committees do, and how to get involved–looking forward to seeing you there!

3. Fall Fundraising Campaign Kick-off
Our PTA funds many enrichment activities and experiences for our students that are not paid for by the school district, including music classes, physical education (PE), mindfulness, restorative justice, as well as community events, such as welcome events at the start of the school year, the Moon Festival, Trunk or Treat, STEM family night, the kindergarten promotion ceremony, and many others. To support all of these initiatives, we need to fundraise approximately $535 per student. If you have the means to help in any capacity, we appreciate your support. 4. 5th Grade Families: Overnight Trip Info Meeting with Dr. Peterson
One of WCMS’s 5th grade milestones is a Naturebridge overnight study trip in the Marin Headlands. This year's trip will be from March 4-6, 2026. We’re asking all 5th grade families to attend an informational meeting about the trip on Zoom on Tues. Sept. 16th at 6:00pm. Dr. Peterson will share details about this opportunity for our students, and parent volunteers will talk about the fundraising efforts that will make it a reality. Please plan to join.

5. Dine out results and Upcoming Dine out
Thank you, families! Your participation in the dine out last month means that Panda Express is sending a $640 check for PTA-funded enrichment, well done!  Next one will be at Chuck E. Cheese on Friday, September 26, 2025. Details can be found here.

7. Open Volunteer Positions

• PTA Committees - many of our committees still need volunteers, and some (such as our JEDI, ART,  STEAM committees) still need committee chairs. On the Konstella app, click on “Directory” and “Browse Committees” to see available roles. You may also contact programsvp@wcmspta.org with any questions.  
• Elementary Drop-off and Pick-up - We are looking for morning volunteers and afternoon volunteers to help with drop-off and pick-up at the elementary site.

8. Reminders

• Traffic Reminder: there is no left turn into the school from Mann Drive during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. Instead of turning onto Mann Drive from Appian Way, please take Marlesta Road to help with the flow of traffic. (see map for refresher) 
• Lost and Found: If your child has lost something at school, you can look for it at the Lost and Found cart, which should be placed in front of the courtyard by the gate during afternoon pick-up. 
• Join the PTA: Please consider joining us if you have not already done so! Your membership helps support programming and experiences for our school.  Yearly membership is $15 per person–click here to pay online.

1. Desfile del Día de la Independencia de América Latina (Fiesta Patrias) - Sábado 13/9

WCMS participará en las Fiestas Patrias (Desfile del Día de la Independencia de Latinoamérica) el sábado 13 de septiembre. Todos los estudiantes y familias de WCMS están invitados a participar. 2. Primera reunión general de la PTA - Jueves 18/9 (Virtual)

4. Familias de 5.º grado: Reunión informativa sobre la excursión con el Dr. Peterson.
Uno de los objetivos de 5.º grado de WCMS es la excursión de estudio con Naturebridge en Marin Headlands . La excursión de este año se realizará del 4 al 6 de marzo de 2026. Invitamos a todas las familias de 5.º grado a asistir a una reunión informativa sobre la excursión por Zoom el martes 16 de septiembre a las 18:00 h . 7. Puestos de voluntariado abiertos

8. Recordatorios

• Recordatorio de tráfico: No se permite girar a la izquierda hacia la escuela desde Mann Drive durante la entrada a la escuela por la mañana ni la salida por la tarde. En lugar de girar hacia Mann Drive desde Appian Way, tome Marlesta Road para facilitar la circulación. ( Consulte el mapa para recordar ). 
• Objetos perdidos: si su hijo ha perdido algo en la escuela, puede buscarlo en el carrito de objetos perdidos, que debe colocarse frente al patio junto a la puerta durante la recogida de la tarde.

4. 五年级家庭：与彼得森博士进行过夜旅行信息交流会。WCMS
