1. Fall Fundraising: Your gift keep WCMS students moving
Physical education gives students regular opportunities to move, practice teamwork, build confidence, and develop lifelong healthy habits. It also supports focus and readiness to learn when students return to the classroom.

PE is one of the enrichment programs supported by PTA and grant funding. Because these opportunities are not fully covered by the district budget, family donations are essential to sustaining them for students across our TK-8 campus.

A contribution at any level helps keep movement and wellness in the school day. Together, many individual gifts become a reliable program our children can count on.

2. Moon Festival Celebration 10/1
The WCMS PTA cordially invites you to attend our annual Mid-Autumn (Moon) Festival celebration on the evening of Thursday, October 1st, from 5:30-7:30 pm! We will have arts & crafts for the children, mooncake tasting, a photo area and a games area. Volunteers are needed to help set up, staff stations, and clean up for the event. Please sign up on Konstella.  Looking forward to seeing you there!

In addition, the 7th graders are hosting a night market with delicious food, drinks, and snacks. Please support their fundraising efforts for the China trip by purchasing dinner and snacks during the Mid-Autumn Festival! 

3. First General PTA Meeting 9/24
We are looking forward to convening our first general PTA meeting of the school year on Thursday, 9/24 on Google Meet. This will be a great opportunity to learn more about the programs that the PTA supports, the work that the various PTA committees do, and how to get involved–looking forward to seeing you there! 4. California Coastal Clean Up 9/19
The California Coastal Cleanup is fast approaching! In an effort to build community, meet new families, and give back to the environment Albert Aumentado is coordinating a semi-formal event to gather WCMS families to participate in the local City of Pinole hosted cleanup event at Bayfront Park on Saturday, 9/19. 5. Garden Committee Updates
🌿 Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation Presentation — Saturday, September 19 at 9:00 AM
The Garden Committee is excited to once again be a recipient of a Sprouts Foundation grant! Join us for the grant presentation at Sprouts Pinole on Saturday, 9/19 at 9:00 AM. We’ve been fortunate to receive this grant for many years, helping support our WCMS garden program. Come in your WCMS gear and bring the kids—the more, the merrier!

🍳 TK Cooking Demonstration — Monday, September 21 | 10:30–11:00 AM
The Garden Committee is looking for a few volunteers to help with a short cooking demonstration for the TK students during lunch recess. Volunteers will assist with simple food prep, handing out samples, and keeping things organized. Sign up on Konstella

🌱 Weekly Garden Club — Mondays, Lunchtime Recess
Come and help with the weekly Garden Club!

6. PTA Volunteer Orientation Recap
Thank you to everyone who joined our PTA Volunteer Orientation. The orientation helps families understand how to become a volunteer, where they can help, and the safety and professionalism standards that guide volunteer participation. You can view the meeting slides for more information. 7. 7th Grade China Trip Boba Sale Monday 9/21
The 7th graders will be selling boba and desserts after school in the courtyard on Monday, 9/21 from 2-4pm. Please come enjoy a drink and support the 7th grade class!

8. Sports Committee Updates
MIDDLE SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL (6th-8th grade):  

  • We had a great turnout at middle school volleyball open gym this past week.  
  • Join us next for 6th to 8th Grade Middle School Volleyball Tryouts!  They'll be held on Thursday, 9/24, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm in the school gym. 
  • Everyone interested in having a blast on the court is welcome to come check out the team.  All skill levels are welcome; we’re looking for students with a positive attitude and a love for learning and playing!
  • Middle school practices will start on 9/28 and will be held every Monday and Thursday from 6:30 to 8:00 pm

  • 6th graders, you can play on either the middle school team or the elementary team — but not both. We recommend you come to the middle school trying to learn about both teams to help make a decision. 

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL (4th-6th grade): 

  • WCMS will be participating in the upcoming WCCUSD elementary school volleyball league, with practices starting the week of Oct. 19. 
  • Practice dates and times, and sign up sheet, are coming soon!

9. Afterschool Enrichment: Kung Fu Fall Registration Now Open
Shaolin Kung Fu International is excited to offer a Kung Fu program at West County Mandarin School! The Kung Fu class will officially begin on October 6, 2026, and is open to students in TK through 8th grade. Registration deadline: October 5, 2026. 10. Volunteer Opportunities

    To learn more about how to become a Volunteer at WCMS, please check out this Konstella post. 

  2. Join a Konstella Committee
    WCMS has many different fun and engaging committees to join. There are opportunities to fit a variety of schedules and interests. On the Konstella app, click on “Directory” and “Browse Committees” to see available roles. You may also contact programsvp@wcmspta.org with any questions. Please consider joining as a committee member, or share your expertise by taking on a committee lead role! We are actively looking to fill these volunteer roles.

    • Financial Secretary - help the PTA Treasurer count cash/checks received and help prepare the monthly reconciliation by pulling a small number of online reports.  This is an in person at school role that will take one hour, twice a month. 
    • Committee Volunteer - Join and help an existing committee at school with their planning, events, and initiatives.  Some committees need a new chair!  If it’s something you’re interested in, feel free to jump right in.

1. Recaudación de fondos de otoño: Su donación mantiene a los estudiantes de WCMS activos
La educación física brinda a los estudiantes oportunidades regulares para moverse, practicar el trabajo en equipo, desarrollar confianza y adquirir hábitos saludables para toda la vida. También apoya la concentración y la disposición para aprender cuando los estudiantes regresan al aula.

4. Limpieza costera de California 19/9
¡La Limpieza Costera de California se acerca rápidamente! 7. Venta de té de burbujas para el viaje a China de los alumnos de 7.º grado, lunes 21/9
Los alumnos de 7.º grado venderán té de burbujas y postres después de clases en el patio el lunes 21/9 de 2 a 4 p. m. ¡Vengan a disfrutar de una bebida y a apoyar a la clase de 7.º grado!

8. Actualizaciones del Comité Deportivo
VOLEIBOL DE ESCUELA SECUNDARIA (6.º a 8.º grado):  

  • La semana pasada tuvimos una gran asistencia en el gimnasio abierto para jugadores de voleibol de secundaria.  
  • ¡Acompáñanos en las pruebas de selección de voleibol para alumnos de 6.º a 8.º grado de la escuela secundaria! Se llevarán a cabo el jueves 24 de septiembre, de 18:00 a 19:00 en el gimnasio de la escuela. 
  • Todos los que quieran divertirse en la cancha son bienvenidos a conocer al equipo. Todos los niveles son bienvenidos; ¡buscamos estudiantes con una actitud positiva y pasión por aprender y jugar!
  • Los entrenamientos de la escuela secundaria comenzarán el 28 de septiembre y se llevarán a cabo todos los lunes y jueves de 6:30 a 8:00 p. m.

🌿 Sprouts 健康社区基金会项目介绍会 — 9 月 19 日星期六上午 9:00

7. 七年级中国之旅珍珠奶茶义卖 9月21日星期一
七年级学生将于9月21日星期一下午2点至4点在操场上售卖珍珠奶茶和甜点。欢迎大家前来品尝饮品，支持七年级学生！

中学排球（6-8年级）：  

  • 上周我们举办的中学排球公开训练课参与人数众多。  
  • 接下来，欢迎参加六年级至八年级中学排球选拔赛！选拔赛将于9月24日（星期四）下午6:00至7:00在学校体育馆举行。 
  • 欢迎所有对球场乐趣感兴趣的人前来了解我们的球队。我们欢迎所有水平的球员；我们正在寻找积极向上、热爱学习和运动的学生！
  • 初中组训练将于9月28日开始，每周一和周四晚上6:30至8:00举行。
