2. Fall Fundraising Kick-off
We are excited to launch the PTA's Fall Giving Fundraising Campaign!  Your support is needed to ensure that our community can continue to benefit from enrichment programs and experiences such as music, physical education (PE), mindfulness, the Moon Festival, Trunk or Treat, STEM family night, and much more. To support these initiatives, we are looking to raise approximately $560 per student but appreciate any amount that you are able to give. 3. Dine-out results & Upcoming Dine-outs
The results are in, and we have some BIG news to celebrate! Thanks to our amazing WCMS community, our August 27 Panda Express Dine-Out raised an incredible $1,354.99. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated, shared the fundraiser with family and friends, and helped make this such a tremendous success. Your support directly helps us provide programs, activities, and resources for our WCMS students.

Let's keep the momentum going! Save the date for our next WCMS Dine-Out Fundraiser at Tigon Vietnamese Restaurant on Thursday, September 17.  Click here for more details.  

4. Back-to-School Night & Minimum Day on 9/10
Back-to-School Night is on the evening of Thursday, September 10. It is also a minimum day. This will be a great opportunity to meet your child’s teachers, see their classrooms, and hear from our principal, Dr. Peterson. Due to space limitations, the Back-to-School Night presentations inside the classrooms are intended only for parents/caregivers. Please see the attached flyer for additional information.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase to support the 7th Grade Fundraiser for their China trip in the Spring. 

5. UPDATE: Volunteer Orientation is now on 9/16
Join the West County Mandarin School PTA for a Volunteer Orientation on September 16, from 6–7pm to learn how to become a volunteer, volunteer opportunities, what to expect, and best practices for supporting our classrooms, events, and campus. The session will be hosted virtually via Zoom and recorded for families to watch at their convenience. We look forward to welcoming you and strengthening our school community together! 6. Latin American Independence Day Parade (Fiesta Patrias) 9/12
WCMS will be participating in the Fiestas Patrias (Latin American Independence Day Parade) on Saturday, 9/12. All WCMS students and families are welcome to participate. Parade participants should meet between 9:00-9:30 AM on 9/13 in the Richmond Civic Center Parking Lot. Students wishing to join the optional parade performance group may contact Ms. Rodriguez at YRodriguez@LoveLearnSuccess.org. We are looking for a truck and/or a driver. If you have a truck available or know someone who might be able to help, please reach out to Ms. Rodriguez. For further details, click here.

7. Room Parent sign-ups
Thank you to all the room parents who have volunteered for this important role! There are a few classes who still have openings for 1 or 2 room parents. Please consider signing up to be a Room Parent! Your support makes a big difference!

8. Sports Committee: Looking for Sports Coaches and Team Managers
🏈 Flag Football for 4th-6th graders 🏈
Thanks to our parent volunteers, WCMS will again participate in the WCCUSD Elementary School Flag Football League!

• Practices begin: Friday, September 11
• Program includes: Weekly practices, a midpoint scrimmage, and a one-day tournament on Saturday, October 17

🏐 Volleyball for 4th-8th graders - Coaches & Team Managers Needed! 🏐
WCMS has the opportunity to participate in both WCCUSD volleyball leagues:

• Elementary School Volleyball: Grades 4–6
• Middle School Volleyball: Grades 7–8
• Season: Early October through early December

🏀 Basketball for 4th-5th grades - Parent Helpers Needed! 🏀

WCMS has offered a basketball program for the past two years, coached by parent volunteer Reggie Figgs, a professional coach!

The popular program will be starting again in the coming weeks:

• Tentative practice days: Mondays & Fridays
• Starting grades: 4th–5th
• We hope to expand to additional grades in the future with enough parent support.
• What we need: Parents to assist with running drills during practices.
• No basketball experience necessary! Just a willingness to help.

2. Join a Konstella Committee
   WCMS has many different fun and engaging committees to join. There are opportunities to fit a variety of schedules and interests. On the Konstella app, click on “Directory” and “Browse Committees” to see available roles. You may also contact programsvp@wcmspta.org with any questions. Please consider joining as a committee member, or share your expertise by taking on a committee lead role! We are actively looking to fill these volunteer roles.

   • Financial Secretary - help the PTA Treasurer count cash/checks received and help prepare the monthly reconciliation by pulling a small number of online reports.  This is an in person at school role that will take one hour, twice a month. 
   • Committee Volunteer - Join and help an existing committee at school with their planning, events, and initiatives.  Some committees need a new chair!  If it’s something you’re interested in, feel free to jump right in.

This will ensure that our school gets accurate funding from the State in order to keep WCMS a great place to learn. Regardless of income, all completed forms benefit our students.
  
• Join the PTA or Renew Your Membership for 2026-2027: See the attached flyer to learn about what our PTA does and the programs and activities we support.

11. Dine-outs and Fundraisers

La noche de regreso a clases es la noche del jueves 10 de septiembre. También es un día mínimo. 6. Desfile del Día de la Independencia Latinoamericana (Fiesta Patrias) 12/9
WCMS participará en las Fiestas Patrias (Desfile del Día de la Independencia Latinoamericana) el sábado 12/9. Todos los estudiantes y familias de WCMS son bienvenidos a participar.    W CMS cuenta con diversos comités interesantes y dinámicos a los que puedes unirte. Hay oportunidades que se adaptan a diferentes horarios e intereses. 2. 加入 Konstella 委员会！

   • 财务秘书——协助家长教师协会财务主管清点收到的现金/支票，并通过提取少量在线报表协助准备月度对账单。此职位需到校工作，每月两次，每次一小时。 
   • 委员会志愿者——加入学校现有的委员会，协助他们进行规划、活动和各项工作。有些委员会需要新的主席！如果您对此感兴趣，欢迎立即加入。
