1. Elementary Back to School Night on 9/11
The elementary campus will hold Back to School Night on the evening of Thursday, September 11. This will be a great opportunity to meet your child’s teachers, see their classrooms, and hear from our principal, Dr. Peterson. We will have food trucks on site, and childcare through the LLS after school program will be extended through 7:15 pm.
Grades TK-2: 5:15 pm
Grades 3-5: 6:15 pm
Location: WCMS Elementary School Campus (1575 Mann Dr., Pinole)
Due to space limitations, the Back to School Night presentations inside the classrooms are intended only for parents/caregivers. The after school program hours will be extended until 7:15pm on this date, so that parents/guardians of students in the after school program can pick up their students after the event is over.

2. Fundraiser at Back to School Night Elementary Campus 9/11
The 7th Grade China Trip Committee will be fundraising at the Elementary Campus during Back-to-School Night! We’ll be serving a variety of delicious Mexican and Chinese food options—plus boba! Menu highlights include: tacos, quesadillas, chow mein, beef broccoli and fried rice. Please see the attached flyer for details. Come hungry and support the cause—dinner is served!
The 5th Grade Class will be fundraising selling desserts at the Elementary Campus during Back to School Night.
3. 5th Grade Families: Overnight Trip Info Meeting with Dr. Peterson
One of WCMS’s 5th grade milestones is a Naturebridge overnight study trip in the Marin Headlands. This year's trip will be from March 4-6, 2026. We’re asking all 5th grade families to attend an informational meeting about the trip on Zoom on Tues. Sept. 16th at 6:00pm. Dr. Peterson will share details about this opportunity for our students, and parent volunteers will talk about the fundraising efforts that will make it a reality. Please plan to join.
4. Looking for Sports Coaches and Team Managers!
The PTA Sports Committee is seeking parent volunteers so that our kids can once again participate in sports opportunities available through the school district and outside organizations. We rely on parents to volunteer as coaches and team managers. This year we hope to have kids participate in flag football, volleyball, basketball, futsal, soccer, baseball, cheer, badminton, and track and field!
If you are willing to help us with any of these sports, please complete this survey.
5. Flag Football for 4th-6th Graders!
4th-6th graders have the opportunity to participate again this year in the WCCUSD Flag Football Tournament, thanks to parent volunteer coaches Joel Abelson and Robby Roller. This consists of weekly practices on Friday and weekends, plus a one-day WCCUSD tournament on Saturday, October 18.
If you are interested in having your child participate in flag football, please complete this survey.
6. Latin American Independence Day Parade (Fiesta Patrias) - Saturday 9/13
WCMS will be participating in the Fiestas Patrias (Latin American Independence Day Parade) on Saturday, 9/13. All WCMS students and families are welcome to participate. Parade participants should meet between 9:00-9:30 AM on 9/13 in the Richmond Civic Center Parking Lot. Students wishing to join the optional parade performance group may contact Ms. Rodriguez at YRodriguez@LoveLearnSuccess.org or Mayra Esparza at mayra.esparza@wccusd.net. 7. Open Volunteer Positions
- PTA Committees - many of our committees still need volunteers, and some (such as our JEDI, ART, STEAM committees) still need committee chairs. On the Konstella app, click on “Directory” and “Browse Committees” to see available roles. You may also contact programsvp@wcmspta.org with any questions.
- Elementary Drop-off and Pick-up - We are looking for morning volunteers and afternoon volunteers to help with drop-off and pick-up at the elementary site.
8. Reminders
- Traffic Reminder: there is no left turn into the school from Mann Drive during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. Instead of turning onto Mann Drive from Appian Way, please take Marlesta Road to help with the flow of traffic. (see map for refresher)
- Lost and Found: If your child has lost something at school, you can look for it at the Lost and Found cart, which should be placed in front of the courtyard by the gate during afternoon pick-up.
- Join the PTA: Please consider joining us if you have not already done so! Your membership helps support programming and experiences for our school. Yearly membership is $15 per person–click here to pay online.

1. Noche de regreso a clases para estudiantes de primaria el 11 de septiembre
La escuela primaria celebrará la Noche de Regreso a Clases el jueves 11 de septiembre por la noche. Será una excelente oportunidad para conocer a los maestros de su hijo/a, ver sus aulas y escuchar a nuestra directora, la Dra. Peterson.
