Hello WCMS families!
You may have heard that teachers are currently in contract negotiations with the district and that these are not going well. We are currently at an impasse, which means a mediator from the state is now involved. Depending on how these mediations go, teachers may need to go on strike. To help raise awareness so that hopefully a strike doesn't occur, teachers throughout the district will be picketing at times. The first big event where we will be picketing will be at Back to School Nights-at elementary schools on 9/11, at middle schools on 9/25, and at high schools on 10/2. At these events, you will see teachers wearing red union shirts carrying signs and maybe passing out flyers. These will be peaceful protests and will not affect instruction nor will they negatively affect Back to School Night events. Teachers will be in their classrooms during their scheduled presentation times and they will be in school with your children as usual during school days. I wanted to send this message to give you a heads up so that you are not surprised when you see us picketing on Thursday. Please remember that this will be happening district wide and our concerns are directed at the district negotiations team and the school board. We are not picketing/protesting West County Mandarin or either of our amazing school administrators.
Family members are welcome to join teachers when they picket and are also welcome to bring any concerns about a potential strike to school board members and school board meetings.

Quizás hayan escuchado que los maestros están actualmente en negociaciones contractuales con el distrito y que estas no están yendo bien.
